Coming from a long line of fighting men, Gideon Wyeth was pressured to attend Military Academy in his teens. There he proved himself second to none in flight combat. His graduation was accelerated and he was able to fight in the last year of the Independence war. His strategic brilliance helped him to rise quickly in rank, and he found himself high up in intelligence circles when the war ended. Under governmental pay he now assists the reestablishment of antebellum prosperity to war-torn areas of the world.
In Advent Rising, a common legend pervades the galaxy - that of a powerful, ancient race that will one day unite the universe. Millions of cultures from vastly distant worlds revere and hallow these mythological beings known as humans. One race, the Seekers, know humans actually exist and are threatened by their potential power. Under the guise of benevolent explorers, the Seekers travel throughout the galaxy in a desperate attempt to eradicate any human society they unearth.
On a space station on the planet Edumea, Humans make first contact with a group of amphibious aliens known as Aurelians. Gideon as the pilot of the ship transporting the human ambassador bares witness to this historical meeting. Gideon and the rest of the human party are taken a back by the respect (bordering on worship) that the Aurelians award them (even though the aliens have superior technology).
The Aurelian leader, Enorym Tenspur tells the human ambassador and Gideon that a powerful race known as the Seekers is looking to destroy humanity. Hours after this meeting the Seekers attack the human world of Edumea using asteroids to bombard its surface and obliterate the planet, but not before abducting thousands of humans and killing several more on the surface. Gideon and his companion Marin Steel (the last known free humans in the galaxy) together with the Aurelians, take the fight to the Seekers across several worlds.
Gideon’s powers include:-
Aeon Pulse
Gideon has the ability to throw an energy burst to their enemies.
Negate
Moving his thoughts through an ordered series of statistical mechanic formulae, Gideon is able to psionically generate a series of standing waveforms, which can be held in front of him as a moving shield or placed as cover. All projectiles, whether energy, matter, or meta-form will be reflected back upon their sources with no loss in velocity upon contact with the shields. While in contact with Gideon, the waveform will unravel violently upon contact with any foreign biological tissue.
This waveform equation can be bent back upon itself to form a sphere which completely encompasses him. The conflicting forces of this energy paradox force Gideon to restrict his motion to avoid being torn apart as it gradually unravels.
Lift
Gideon can wrap any loose object – be it furniture, weapon, or enemy – with energized particles drawn from the surrounding environment and then move the object to any position within his range. The movement can be slow and gentle; it can also be swift, violent, and off of a cliff. Alternately, the particles can be woven through all of the loose objects within a limited radius, suspending them until Gideon’s power wanes.
Timeshift – his most powerful ability IMO
By opening a focused channel through the folds of space-time and encasing himself in an inverted gravity shell, Gideon can literally slice through the quantum fabric at sub-sonic speeds. Inversely, he can bleed the gravity shell into the surrounding fabric, and cause a localized inertial time-damp. Gideon can then move freely through a slowtime bubble for a few seconds until the shell is fully decayed.
Surge - you see it at the beginning of the video
Uses a form of telekinesis to tighten surrounding threads of torpid gravitational energy and snap them loose in a desired direction. The resulting waves of force can knock even the most stable enemies to the ground. With further training, the same energy can be focused onto smaller targets (such as an enemy’s weapon) – ripping them through the air and into Gideon’s hands.
