Personality : Yuri is what would be considered an anti-hero. He's brash, headstrong, and a loudmouth who loves to talk trash. He can, at times, go a little far with flirtation and sound like a pervert, but he�s quick to apologize for such action, though with a playful smile on his face. He�s adventurous and has a temper, when the right buttons are pressed, but he�s also capable of being extremely easy going and laid back. Despite his flaws, he is a genuinely good guy that will go to any length to help and protect those he cares for. He�s very determined and will break rules in a heartbeat if he feels such a thing is necessary to his goal.

Powers : Yuri is a Harmonixer, bearer of a cursed bloodline. He can �fuse� with the souls of monsters and demons, allowing him the ability to transform into them at any time he chooses.

Abilities : Besides his fusion abilities, Yuri himself has quite a few. His has some level of supernatural strength, agility, and endurance, as he was able to jump from a moving train with a girl in his arms and land unaffected. He seems to have some form of enhanced healing. His arm was once cut off, and he was able to reattach it with no problem.

Weaponry : Yuri is a very well-trained martial artist. As such, his weapon of choice is a pair of bladed knuckles. He rarely uses any other weapons than these, relying on his own strength and skill to get the job done.

History :

Events from Shadow Hearts

Yuri Hyuga was born 1890 to a Japanese father, Colonel Ben Hyuga, and a Russian mother, Anne Hyuga. Yuri's birthplace is unknown. In his youth, he moved throughout China, going wherever his father's military assignments took them. Both of his parents died when he was 10 years old. Yuri's fusion ability awakened at the moment of their death and he has been a Harmonixer ever since.

The sad truth of matters with Yuri�s parents is as follows: One winter while his father was away, there was a magnificent storm. Under the power of a sage named Dehuai, villagers became possessed, turning into cannibals, and Anne was struck down as she tried to protect her son. In Yuri's blind rage and fear, his dormant Harmonixor blood awakened and the demon soul took over, slaying everything in sight.
His father, also a Harmonixor, did not return as he had been killed on assignment, having sacrificed himself by fusing with the fallen god Seraphic Radiance to save the world from Dehuai's Demon's Gate Invocation.

After the death of his parents, Yuri lived and traveled alone, relying on his fusion abilities and his wits to survive. He became an efficient fighter, skilled with his fists.

Sometime during this period, he was contacted by a mysterious voice, giving him instructions to go to the Trans-Siberian Express, where the Japanese army was holding a woman named Alice Elliot, and save her. The woman was being pursued by a mysterious man named Roger Bacon. Yuri was successful in saving her.

Meanwhile, Dehuai was far from killed, however. Instead, he lost the ability to use half his body, which he gradually replaced with magic and various parts of random inventions. Fifteen years after Ben Hyuga died to save the world, Dehuai attempted another Demon�s Gate Invocation, and this time, Yuri, along with Alice, whom he had grown to love, succeeded in saving the world, by defeating Dehuai. Unfortunately, it was too late to stop the ritual, so Yuri instead fused with Seraphic Radiance, just as his father did. He lost himself in the process, and flew away to the castle of a friendly vampire, staying locked up in the vampire�s bell tower for six months, until his friends gathered and fought him. They defeated him, and Alice entered the graveyard that was his soul. She discovered that the Harmonixer does pay a price for this power. The Harmonixer's subconscious is a graveyard, where guilt, doubt, and carnal emotions take up permanent residence in tangible forms. The souls of defeated demons and monsters remain here, and their hatred and malice for their killer drags the Harmonixer's soul down into self-destruction and darkness. A seven-eyed mask named Atman the Executioner is the one who presides over the graveyard. He is the final aspect of the Harmonixer's inner self, the "realized form of darkness that exists in every person's mind." The sacrifice of Harmonixer souls will allow him to release the souls of the vengeful demons into the world. The soul sacrifice is the ultimate price for the Harmonixer's powers. However, another soul can be substituted for the Harmonixer's own. Alice offered her soul in exchange for Yuri's.

From then on, Alice would accumulate the malice intended for Yuri, and when the time came, she would pay the price. They continued to journey together as a group, meeting the owner of Yuri�s mysterious voice, a witch named Koudelka, and setting her free from the mental institution Roger Bacon was keeping her in. She revealed that the man that had imprisoned her, the same man that Yuri had been commanded to protect Alice from, was not the real Roger Bacon. It turns out that the man was, in fact, a former student of Roger�s from long ago, named Albert Simon.

Alice�s time came after the defeat of Albert Simon, who had manipulated events so that he could summon an alien being he believed to be God to Earth in an attempt to restart humanity. Alice fell ill and died very soon after Albert Simon�s patron deity was defeated; her soul sacrificed to save Yuri�s, and from then on, Yuri was free of his curse.

Events from Shadow Hearts: Covenant

Yuri traveled to the French village of Domremy, where he befriended a retired puppeteer named Gepetto, a girl named Jeanne, and her dog Blanca. A year after the start of WW1, the German army attempted to conquer Domremy, for no other reason than because they wanted control of everything they came into contact with. Using his fusion ability, Yuri successfully defended the town, and the higher-ups in the army considered this a serious stain on the reputation of the army. The higher ups then sent a specialized task force along with an exorcist to defeat the "demon of Domremy" once and for all. On the next attempt to take the town over, the exorcist, named Nicolai Conrad, ended up confronting Yuri and stabbed him with an artifact called the Holy Mistletoe, removing all of the demons stored within him. Nicolai is revealed to be a part of a secret society called Sapientes Gladio who are attempting to take over the world. The group knows all about Yuri, referring to him as �Godkiller". Also during this attack, the soldiers kill everyone in Domremy, including Jeanne.

A weakened Yuri escaped Domremy along with Gepetto, Blanca, and the leader of the German squad Karen Koenig, who was outraged with what happened to the citizens.

After recovering from his injury, Yuri and company chased Nicolai in an effort to both stop Sapientes Gladio from trying to take over the world and to recover Yuri's lost power. Yuri ended up tracking down the leader of the organization, a man named Rasputin, in Russia and was able to defeat him using his recovered abilities. However, Nicolai revealed that he was using Rasputin in hopes of taking over Russia. Since that plan failed, he decided to inflict the entire world with malice by unsealing a door in an ancient tower and merge with the demon Astaroth. Though he succeeded, Yuri and his party defeated Nicolai, although they failed to finish him off before his Japanese ally Masaji Kato helped him escape.

Yuri and company followed Nicolai and Kato to Japan in an attempt to destroy Nicolai once and for all. They learned the Japanese government was planning on using Nicolai's newfound powers to start a war with Russia. Also, Kato, using an ancient artifact called the Emigre Manuscript, created a small band of elite soldiers called the Mutant Apes, one of whom is a clone of his deceased lover. By the time Nicolai and Kato are tracked down, Astaroth had completely taken over Nicolai's body and planned to destroy everything. Yuri stopped Astaroth, and Kato managed to deliver the fatal blow but not before Astaroth killed the Mutant Ape clone of Kato's lover.

Being completed devastated by losing his lover a second time, Kato decided the world is too full of evil and misery and must be destroyed. He used the Emigre Manuscript to attempt to revert the world back 100 years and recreate the future in his own image. Yuri and his band managed to defeat him and end the ritual.

Yuri is last scene walking in an open field side by side with Roger Bacon.
