Ironclad is the only one that comes to mind. Brutal and realistic knight fights. Best sword fight would still be Troy even though it's not knights. Problem with Excalibur is that the fight scenes move a bit too slow.
Give Ironclad a shot. Last knights as well. To be honest, I don't really know of any movie that shows realistic knight sword combat. The longsword is not as easy to use as a scimitar or katana. So unless actors have proper training with it, they just look clumsy and slow with a longsword
So basically longsword duels. That's tough. The ones that come to mind are:
1. King Arthur
2. 13th Warrior
3. Excalibur
3. Ironclad
4. Red Sonja (lots of longsword fights here)
5. Conan
6. Willow
7. Last Knights
8. 7th Son
9. Highlander series
10. Braveheart
11. Dragonheart
Not all of those will have knights, but all have longswords
Re: Best movies about Knights with realistic combat.
Would you even recognize a realistic sword fight if you saw one?
A duel between two armoured knights wielding longswords looks nothing like it does in fictional media. It's more wrestling than swordplay. It is impossible to cut through plate mail with a sword.
I can't recall a single film that depicts it like that.
Re: Re: Best movies about Knights with realistic combat.
Excalibur did for the most part. Arthur Vs Lancelot was basically a shoving match with both of them trying their best to hit between their opponent's unarmoured joints.
Re: Re: Re: Best movies about Knights with realistic combat.
Exactly.
First thing I think of.
Also, the one where the Black Knight fought that guy in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, despite it being a comedy movie, is pretty realistic. (Not King Arthur, the one who fought him before that.)
Don't give a **** whether it's Knights anymore, but I've found that apparently this apparently super highly acclaimed movie "The Duellists" has the most realistic sword fights in history.
