Under normal forum conditions characters fight to the best of their ability and aren't subject to PIS...

So with those two things being true, how do the Guardians of the Galaxy stand up to Superman?

Yondu kills him. Superman doesn't fight out of character. He didn't even kill Batman and he struck him multiple times.

Also, Superman held back against Batman because he wanted to reason with him...

In a forum fight, Superman has no reason at all to reason with the guardians and he can fight in character and still defeat them all easily...

He usually holds back because he isn't a killer. He doesn't try to kill right out of the gate and his indecision costs him. Superman being ko'd by the muscle strain of the tower in man of steel. Put him through a tough workout and he might just self ko.
