At age 39, Blonsky was an amazing soldier and an amazing fighter. However even his skills were no match for the beastly power of The Hulk.
Super Soldier
He is thus given a Super Soldier Serum developed during World War II...hm, sounds familiar but whatever.
As can be seen, the SSS grants him at least peak human speed and agility.
Probably durability too as that hit should have reduced a normal man to pudding.
After the blow, "most of the bones in his body looked like crushed gravel" according to a physician but he also has a "heart like [...] a race horse."
The SSS heals all his bones to the point he's up and ready to fight days later.
It also allowed him some increased strength as we can see him clearly, effortlessly, lifting a grown man well off the ground with one arm. (please log in to view the image)
