What are you...?
LOSER ~ A "normal" person. Will read a book once. Will watch a movie once. Will not look for deeper meaning, mistakes, incongruities.
NERD ~ Will read a book a few times. Will watch a movie a few times. Will take in main elements of a story, but has trouble remembering specific details. Discusses with other people ((usually in RL))
GEEK ~ Often reads a book every year/two years for their entire life ((often at the same time each year!)). Will buy the video, the DVD and the Special/Extended Edition DVD, after having already watched the movie at least three times at the cinema.
Writes good fanfiction. Joins forums and chats and discusses on the internet. ((However, simply joining a forum does not qualify for GEEK status - without the other elements you are merely a high-level NERD.))
OBSESSIVE ~ With all the same elements of GEEK, but with additions. You are a Moderator on Forums. You read related books, eg. The Origins of Tolkein's Middle-Earth For Dummies or The Wydest Link. You know strange and obscure facts, and notice mistakes, trivia and incongruities in movies. You are able to talk a non-OBSESSIVE into beoming one. When watching a movie ((book-adaption)) you will loudly say "That didn't happen in the book!" and "Where's Tom Bombadil?"
Most importantly, you admit to being obsessed.
FREAK ~ All the elements of OBSESSIVE and then some. You may be an Administrator. you certainly create your own webpages. You record/buy TV series and watch them again and again and again. You write very involved fanfiction which sticks retentively well to te original, or may even correct mistakes from the original. You own soundtracks, to which you know all the words. People do not need to know what you want for your birthday, but they may need to check that you do not already have So You Think You Know The Star Wars Universe or the One Ring of Power.
You quote, often and annoyingly. You do impressions. You make Fan Art.
Most importantly, you know you are a FREAK. Don't you, my prreciousss...
