Question Babies can see what we can't?

My sis just had a baby boy, he's a week old now big grin

Yesterday, when I was holding him, this thought came to mind, he was looking all over the place, sometimes he concentrates on a blank wall, then sometimes after looking at something for a while he makes these cute little baby winces, so I asked my sis - Do you reckon he can see things that we can't?

She said she thought about that as well, but if there's any "force" in the room, her baby's there to protect her (by making the "forces" go away).

I just spoke to a friend about this, he's a really spiritual guy, bit of a fanatic even, this is what he had to say to me:
they have not enough wisdom to distinguish what they are and they still have memories of their past life up to a certain period but again they don't know what they are.

So.... What do you think?

nah, they're just developing their eye sight, (I always thought babies saw very poorly in the first few weeks, could be wrong tho) but remember that everything they see is something they see for the first time, if we were taken to some kinda foreign planet which looked nothing like earth (hard to imagine) I think we'd act about the same

What Fire says makes perfect sense... The eyes are one of, if not the last thing to be developed in the fetus, so a lot of it is done after the baby is born.

My chance to revise my psychology!! big grin

Baby has a sight when its born. When a mother holds a baby, the baby is born with the ability to focus on mothers eyes, at that exact distace.

Baby isnt born with a blank state, like many people think. It has Motor reflexes it has an ability of recognising faces , also focal points and habituation. baby is born with all these abilities smile

So the baby could have just been exploring the room. You know when you see baby, grabing the air with his hands, its not something baby is not aware of. Baby is totally aware of the hand grabbing thing, and thats why it does it, cos thats one of the things it can do when born smile

from 0-2 years old, baby has the ability of object permanace, Directed groping, immediacy.

the baby was exploring the new world around it, adn probably loving every minute of it happy
