Computer question

Some of you seem pretty knowledged on here. I think I have spyware on my computer and my son (who isn't nearly as knowledged) suggested I get spybot or something to that effect. Any suggestions?

I like Spybot-Search and Destroy--ESPECIALLY for kids--since their mail and the sites they tend to visit infest your system with innumerable tiny little pests that slow your stuff down--it's very easy to use and loaded with nice helpful options that can make even a novice comfortable with the process.

Most people have spyware and don't realise it, kazaa comes with spyware, when you download, as well as i-mesh.......although its not the illegal type of spyware......you probably would want to get a firewall as well

If you think you have some spies on your computer and you don't have an anti spyware/adware prog' in use then you most certainly HAVE !

Many computer-users who don't have such protection and who spend any time on the internet will be astounded to find that once they do install such a programme that they may have DOZENS of spyware or dataminer programmes hidden in their 'puters.

If you don't have a spyware programme yet - ANYBODY - get one today !

Free Ad-Aware SE Personal is available from http://download.cnet.com

But a far better programme, based on this freebie and which costs $39.95 is Ad-Aware Professional SE ,which is the one that I use.

This can be bought from: http://www.lavasoft.de

First of all, get an anti-virus program: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php

Then go to: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and make sure you have all the critical updates.

Thirdly go here: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download
Download the spyware remover and run it.

And finally, to stop ALL worms dead in their track and to make yourself instantly immunable, install the built-in firewall: http://www.microsoft.com/security/p...xp/firewall.asp

OR get a very good (free) firewall here: http://soho.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
You can do a quick online check whether you have any spyware installed on your PC by visiting this url: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

Here you go.

If you have any further problems with your spyware or computer, make a thread in the Computer Help Forum and Raz will help you out if he can.

happy
