Television - The most powerful weapon of them all

http://www.rense.com/general61/tvv.htm

Perception Management - American Television is truly the 'boob tube' and it controls the masses via very carefully filtered information keeping a duped and deceived populace in check to serve at the pleasure of the plutocratic US government.
The presidential election was a great success for our government, because most of the fools still think the outcome had something to do with voting. They've already returned to their television sets for further training, so the fact that they have no money or freedom and their children are being sent to die will soon make perfect sense to them.
It's all very easy once you're in control of the news. Goebbels knew that if you could CONTROL THE INFORMATION that's available to a population, you could CONTROL THE MIND OF A NATION, and this lesson from Nazi Germany has been perfected in America today.

I think everyone is just to damn paranoid. Media and television are not a weapon in any way. The only weapon these invisible forces behind the curtain have, is the gullability and stupidity of people. People dont read the newspapers because they believe that they are being spoon fed lies and misleadings by some conscious force that wants to sway their perspective. These same people believe a poorly written conspiracy theory found on the internet- the interent of all places.

There is no boogeyman in the television set, there is no evil dictator in charge of what goes page one. Money makes the world go round, and money decides what goes on page one, money decides which candidate gets to run the most polotical commercials. If it doesnt make money or have the potential to make money then it isnt run. One thing that makes the least amount of money in most cases is the truth. The truth often makes more money when it is twisted.

I believe that the entertainment medium is used to influence how people think, and is used in this way quite often. I know i sound as though i am contradicting myself, but it is not the medium that is weapon in cases like this. It is the gullability of people. The media and entertainment are about two things most of the time, and these are image and money. How and what we percive from this is on us.

Again, that was the people's gullibility and ignorance. Months and even years after 9/11 people believed sadaam to be responsible for 9/11. Whose fault is that? When you don't bother to educate yourself or just pay attention to events around you, then your stupidity is justified in being used to someone else's advantage. People don't even know where Iraq is. I mean come on man. Naiveness, and ignorance have been used to win political campaignes and wage wars for centuries. This approach of using peoples lack of information has been used centuries before t.v and media existed.

Without TV we wouldnt have Toonami, Movies, Manga, Porn? The world would go topsy-tervy. Beer is the biggest weapon of them all. Had alcahol been invented 10 years ago it would be a class A drug.

nowadays media are trying to controll ppl's life..
and imothe television is getting the biggest impact coz it has the shortest way to reachthe audience, ppl don't buy newspapers but are turning the tv on.
and eg here when waching news on some different channels, you get different info blink and it confuses me a bit.

I agree... when I read the title of this thread my initial reaction was that TV's not as powerful as the net roll eyes (sarcastic)

If you believe everythig you hear, and read in the media, and take it with full faith that the truth is being recited to you. Then no one is at fault , but yourself. It is not the fault of the source reporting the information. Truth is only an idea. in a world where speach is free, truth is half determined by the beholder. Most of what spans across the air ways and printed word is influenced by money.. What will get you to watch my t.v station, what will get you to listen to my radio station, what will get you to read my papers? With so many different perceptions, there are different avenues of truth. The media tries to appeal to certian perceptions to gather the people. Pretty soon the truth is spun with several hundred versions, each version trying different methods of spinning the story to lure audiences. This is no ones fault, because speach is free, and the public accepts it.

Of course this can be considered a type of brainwashing, seeing how you can very well influnce people. You can influence people's decesion in politics, fashion and even what kind of toothpaste to buy, but it is not the fault of the people producing these ad's because speach is free. If money did not influence what is printed and aired, things would be different, but money is still the most important thing to the world. Television is not a weapon untill you allow yourself to be blinded and shut off your brain to commen sense.

but the thing is 90% and maybe more people do allow themselves to be blinded..they do believe what is being said on the tv so to say television is not a weapon is stupid in its totality....most people would have a nervous breakdown if they was away from the tv for more than 2 days at the most...i read that kids spend over half of their life watching TV on the average before they are age 18. Don't you want a better life for your kids and yourself?
tv controls peoples way of thinking and thats the way it is....im guilty of taking tv seriously too but ive learned from my mistakes and its about time everyone else does

No one was talking about believing the stuff printed or delivered by media, nevertheless they will spew out not exactly objective views on the matters at hand whether it being reasons for invading a country or the global warming.
media has never been objective
