Shocked Bush Supports Christian Persecution?

and no, that was not some smartass title just to get you to read this.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By Nina Shea

Before boarding his flight to Crawford to meet with President Bush Monday, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Abdullah presided over the arrest of 40 Pakistani Christians on Friday. Their crime? The Pakistanis were caught praying in a private home in the capital Riyadh in violation of the state’s strictly enforced religious law that bans all non-Muslim worship.

As the State Department has determined, there is no religious freedom in Saudi Arabia and everyone there, Muslim or not, must obey the rules of the extreme sharia of the kingdom’s established religion, the Wahhabi interpretation of Islam. The Saudi state indoctrinates its nationals from an early age in the Wahhabi ideology of zero tolerance for the “other.” Government textbooks and publications teach that it is a religious obligation for Muslims to hate Christians and Jews and warn against imitating, befriending, or helping them in any way, or taking part in their festivities and celebrations. The state teaches a Nazi-like hatred for Jews, treats the forged Protocols of the Elders of Zion as historical fact, and avows that the Muslim’s duty is to eliminate the state of Israel.

Though the persecution of the Pakistani Christians is a dramatic example, they and the other non-Muslims among the quarter of the kingdom’s population who are foreign workers are not the only ones to suffer from the denial of religious freedom. Saudi Arabia’s nationals, by law Muslim, find that a broad range of their freedoms are limited because of the state’s monopoly on religious expresssion....(click link for entire article)

So, what does bush think of these obvious 'haters of freedom'?

here is a pic taken this morning at his ranch in crawford texas. apparently it is customary in such a homophobic society as saudi arabia for to men to walk around and hold hands...certainly not a sign of discontent i'm sure we can all agree.

here's one for the wedding album:

As for the matter at hand, there is no doubt in my mind that Bush is playing the role of the good christian for the benefit of the conservative right. Actually, for the benefit of himself. Follow the money trail, and you'll find the only god Bush is loyal to.

which begs the question...does bush believe in his supposed faith?
if so, then he must believe that there is a hell. and where would a man
of such power end up in the afterlife, after allowing the name of christ to be
forsaken...for the sake of wealth and power? what would christ have to say
about the way in which bush declares that being free is every human being's god given right(which i believe but apparently he doesnt) and then allows it to be taken away without flinching? would the hypocracy anger god?

really, does bush know he's holding hands with the devil?
does he know that if there is a hell, he has a presidential suite awaiting him?

I'm having a hard time grasping the full scope of the message you're trying to portray here PVS...

Are you suggesting Bush should use the United States military in order to do something about this situation just because it goes against religious up bringing?

please forgive the angry tone, but i feel it's warranted.
perhaps if you would read...you would be able to answer your own question.
but i guess thats too hard, so ill walk you through it.

-bush vowed to end all tyranny throughout the world. that was his final reason (of many) to justify invading iraq, after the original reasons were proven false. freedom.

-the saudi royal family (why am i repeating this for the 3rd time?) WILL ARREST AND JAIL ANYONE PRACTICING ANY RELIGION BESIDES ISLAM (please tell me you understood that time)

Good Question

Saudi Arabia is GWB's sugar daddy ; he is not going to get into the way of their custom...actually its not that he supports christian persecution ; he doesnt give a **** about religions. to him praying is a waste of time and Time is $$$ . thats what it looks like at least

Now that is scary up there. Such hateret spreading is dangerous - to upbring children to hate Jews and Christians, and other non believers.

I read this article few times from few different sources - there are children amongst arrested too.

And Bush, once again is a disgrace - why would you want to be ''friends'' with country which denies human rights and religious freedom.

WTF?

If it was any other country, Bush would be bombing it back to stoneage!

looks like GW has adopted an 'opportunity cost' on the matter. He must have known about the arrest of the Pakistanis, but as per that article WD posted, he did not commence with that matter (A priority of the 'Freedom' he stood by vs Iraq), however took the soaring crude oil prices into pole position for the meeting. The Opportunity Cost of NOT abiding to freedom ideals to loosen the Gas Price on the American consumer.

Domestic Issue VS Freedom Issue.

Can someone tell me if the matter involved US soldiers stationed in Saudi Arabia would Bush have had a different approach to the meeting ?
