Worried Christmas Truce during WWI

Ever wonder why did this happen? The trenches from Germany, France and the British ceaze fire and celebrate christmas. But why did it only happen during WWI?

Where there any previous truces between these nations prior to WWI? Were there any during WWII?

was it not just a spur of the moment decision...apparently the novel "silent night" describes it really well although i haven't read it

I heard that sometimes during Napoleon's wars stuff like this would happen.

THe truth, imo, is that Soldiers don't really hate other soldiers they're just all doing there jobs.

I was always under the impression it was spur of the moment decision and not planned.

I think from one of my high school history classes, it started because one side was signing Christmas carols.

WD, I assume it only happened in WWI because of the type of war it was and that the two sides in WWII were alot different than it was in WWI.
