Earthquake followed by a TSUNAMI in Samoa and American Samoa
Just incase some of you haven't heard, Samoa has been hit with a massive wave in the form of a tsunami set off by an earthquake which had rocked the island yesterday (measuring an 8.0 on the scales).
So far 14 are confirmed dead on account of the earthquake and the toll according to www.ninemsn.com.au is now at 28.
Please keep those effected by this disaster in your thoughts and prayers.
If you are able, keep up to date by checking a national or worldwide news organisation.
I really urge that anyone that is able to help, please donate what you can to any aid organisations that form to help out the victims in Samoa, American Samoa and Philippines.
oh no! that's horrible.... nature just can't seem to stop these days..

Unofficial death toll has surpassed 140, thousands have fled to the Samoan mountain ranges for safety, many more thousands are injured. A majority of the victims have been left homeless and there are up to 100 missing, feared dead.
Nature has being doing this before humans even existed, its nothing new. We have to learn to adapt, not building homes in hurricane alley, flat islands where storm floods might occur, and at the foot of active Vulcano´s might help !!

Another load of people killed by an earthquake in Indonesia too. Seems like that South East part of the world is getting hit with everything lately. Got a feeling these are all small events preceeding something massive in terms of seismic activity.
Depends. Sometimes massive events are preceeded by relatively smaller events...Even if those smaller events still reach 8.3 on the Richter scale as the recent one did.
Massive volcanic eruptions are also preceeded by large quakes as well. Could be a supervolcano or just an extremely large standard eruption.
I missed last nights news so when they said on the news this morning
"an aftershock of 7.2" I thought WTF, AFTERSHOCK!!!! Then what was the main quake on the Richter scale ??
Here´s an excellent link which shows global disasters per a google map type set up where you can zoom in and get more details. ight be helpful to some people
