I may have trouble finding the source, but I read a report one time on various presidential administrations and congresses, and how many of them passed bills that effectively increased the government's influence and control. It's an inexact science, since not every bill in equal in that sense. But it tried to parse it out a few difference ways to give a fair view. The conclusions were basically that there was little to no difference between parties. I.e. it's a lot of philosophical rhetoric, but the results are similar either way.
I don't actually know what liberalism is. My sense is that it's a negative buzzword assigned to democrats to incite anger or marginalize arguments. Everything is individual issues, yeah? There are arguments for and against nearly any idea or issue. I can't in good conscience apply a label to a group of issues because they each deserve scrutiny, and many aren't interrelated except that some are held by the same party as others.
Reagan worship is also weird to me. Anyone's term in office can be deified or vilified. Given the humanitarian acts of numerous presidents, and the fact that none of us actually understand economics at a level at which we can rightly assign praise or blame to presidents, picking him seems arbitrary.
