Hate Crime Laws; Yay/Nay
Just felt like a good time to talk about them, on the whole.
Should motive determine punishment?
I'll give my opinion in a little bit, till then...
What do you guys think?

Well, yes. To a degree.
Motive separates murder from manslaughter after all.

Sure, but I meant more like,
A.) I kill you because I'm just a sociopath and it gives me a stiffy to hurt you.
Vs
B.) I kill you because your wife is Muslim and maybe I lost a friend in Iraq so I want a sand-ni##er to pay for it.
Idk, I find the second worse because it feels preventable. I could just be naïve on that feeling though.

I don't think it should. For instance if someone robs me..well, whether or not they robbed me because I'm white or just out of desperation..the end result is still kinda the same.
I also do not see murdering someone over their race to be inherently worse than murdering someone just for the shits and giggles.
However, since we do have hate crime laws they absolutely *need* to be applied to everyone. Just this recent incident in Chicago with some people trying to say it wasn't a hate crime(or that its only a hate crime due to the victim being mentally challenged) and that was quite disgusting.
