Mass shootings in America - a byproduct of broken fatherless homes?

Food for thought:-

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018...oken-homes.html

*One of comments:

The fatherless home was exacerbated by the passage of Pres. Lyndon Johnson's "War on Poverty" in 1965. With all good intentions of helping the less fortunate, it has led to the break up of many families over the years and it has made an underclass which has become dependent on the government, which in turn has created a major problem in our society. When you reward a mother with government money to have children minus a spouse in the home, you incubate a future problem child and eventually a problem adult. It is carried on by "well meaning do-gooders" (a/k/a liberal Democrats) who promote free this and free that courtesy of the government (ex: food stamps, free tuition, free housing, free cell phones etc.). These naive people should remember that when you reward something you get more of it.

i agree, depriving single mothers of govt support will definitely improve their situation and give the child a good start in life. lets get on it

According to that brief study they did on Universal Basic Income, providing UBI actually improves stability for mothers.

I am not joking and I am not on drugs when I say this...UBI would greatly decrease crime and reduce single motherhood.

The war on poverty was just the government finding a way to force itself into the family home as a mean of controlling them, especially the black family.

Johnson is quoting saying, “I’ll have these ******* voting democrat for the next 200 years. Back then, only 20% of black families household held one parent.

It’s proven by many economists, this was one of the worst things the Government could have to its people. Fast forward to 2017, and the war on poverty is even worse than before.

A family needs a father figure. No matter how strong a woman is, she’s not a man. Growing up, i was not a bad kid, but i didn’t listen to my mother as much as I did to my father.

Both boys and girls need that strong figure in their life, and the government purposely destroyed that just to have the people being reliant on them.

You know single fathers make up 25% of single parents now? We should start addressing the adverse effects of that.

I have ideas but none of it is empirical. The only thing we have is limited data that shows it reduces it (rather, is shows lower rates).

If you want me to speculate, I can guess that it has to do with financial stability and economic choice - a greater set of life options which relates to financial stability should decrease the probability that motherhood is one of those options. Access to money equates to access to medical care, education, and stability. Why that leads to single motherhood, I don't really know and all my ideas are probably prejudiced and even sexist so I do not think it is appropriate for an adult discussion.

Fun to watch the results of how the Left's destruction of the Family turn around and bite them in the ass.

They destroy the Moral Values of the Nation and this is the result.

But hey. Lets watch a Fascist like Beny Bad Mouth the Family Structure.

Cause he dey Gay and knows better.

You seemingly missed the point of my thread:

"Broken and/or Fatherless homes are potential breeding grounds of social madness."

Some people are blaming Lyndon Johnson for setting the stage of broken homes in America. Whether you agree with this POV (or not), is not the point of this thread.

How about addressing the issue of broken homes?

Additional food for thought:

"We blame guns, violence in the media, violence in video games, and poor family values. Each is a plausible player," Farrell noted in 2013 after the Newtown, Connecticut, shooting. "But our daughters live in the same homes, with the same access to the same guns, video games, and media, and are raised with the same family values. Our daughters are not killing. Our sons are."

We should start genetically engineering humans and have people who want to adopt them do so. Start sterilizing people at birth; too many people on the planet.

Population is not much of an issue - unfair distribution of wealth across the board and ill-advised measures on the other hand....

Liberal politicians call for measures that scream SOCIALISM. They think that by controlling every aspect of lives of people - they can transform a society into a liberal utopia of decency. This is a wishful thinking on their part.

Governments should champion/promote strong family-oriented values in order to facilitate societal well-being in the long term. Their is no other way around this.

SOCIALISM is the antithesis of FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY. Liberal politicians should be made to see the mirror.

Right, so we can seize the nasty rich peoples' money and use it to open up more farms! It's not like the Earth has a carrying capacity or anything; let's keep interbreeding like rabbits!!
