What is that Kill Bill 2 instrument?
Heya,
Ok, so I go to the opening day of Kill Bill 2 and as a complete co-incidence in the film David Carradine is playing the type of flute that I have been searching for for a long while. The thing is, I'm not sure what kind it is or even where that type and style of flute originates from. Can anyone help me?
Thanks,
~Thor

The flute used to dub David Carradine's flute playing in Kill Bill 2 is actually a Bolivian quenacho recorded by Adrienne Inglis of Austin-based Latin American folk music trio Chaski. There's a photo of it on their website. The quenacho is a vertical notched flute similar to a shakuhachi and sounds an octave higher than David Carradine's flute.

I was thinking about that flute the other day. Is it the same flute when he was telling the story of Pai Mei? Gotta double check.
