Question Best opening sequence to a movie ?

Saving Private Ryan - even though i dislike the film as a whole, th eopening sequences featuring the beach landings are incredible. Today i think there is only Spielberg who could have achieved that.

Scream - the Drew Barrymore opening is brilliant ( even if it is a rip off of an earlier horror film ) Scary, funny..it's the best part of all the Scream films.

I must say I favored all three LOTR movie openings. They all told an important part of the story that would have not fit anywhere else in the films.

Star Wars: A New Hope. Who can forget seeing the Tantive IV screaming across the screen followed by the Devastator.. still following... still following.. still following.. how big is this ship anyways.. it's huge (so said my 7 year old mind in 1977).

There are quite a lot. I think I'll go with Dead or Alive this time. Great opening! Strange ending.

Agreed.

Jaws
Dawn of the Dead - Frantic scrambling in the news station.
Halloween
Ghost Ship - Who knew 1 wire could do so much damage? evil face

For Your Eyes Only. It was nice to see the Blofeld bit resolved... but of course now I miss having him around in the Bond series.
