Shocked How to avoid MISMATCHES?

After seeing HULK I was terribly depressed.

This movie was not a sperhero movie. It was more like a schizophrenic pyscologocal thriller.

The movie was good under this psy. thriller category. But not a fun movie like SPiderman or even Batman.

So the question arises , who was the target audience? Kids , teens, or adults? What was Mr.Anglee thinking?

This was definitely not a family movie like spideys.
I respect AngLee for what he is, but he just has never read those hulk comics as a child & has interpreted the story in a totally serious way cos some intellectual directors just dont understand comics(soo boring).
But other mature & oldies like Lucas , Ray Haryy hausen etc. even today live comics, & can relate to them just like kids do.

Isnt injustice being done to Hulk fans?
What can be done to avoid such mis matches or movie character+directors?
