You make it sound like a fact, as apposed to an opinion. The real question of this thread is "Which trilogy is better? 'Star Wars' or 'The Lord of The Rings'?" I'm sure this has been done a dozen times over. I'll search for the thread.
Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings, aren't movies. They are trilogies. A trilogy is defined as "a series or group of three plays, novels, operas, etc., that, although individually complete, are closely related in theme, sequence, or the like."
If you were to say "Star Wars" was your favorite movie, an assumption would be to think "A New Hope" was your favorite movie.
It is of course MY opinion that these two MOVIES are better than all other movies - though it is not so far away from truth judged by imdb voters http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
I think of them as one movie. If I write just Star Wars it could be all the episodes or "A New Hope". But I did write "episodes" behind and not just "Star Wars" and "LOTR".
But you are right that Lord of the Ring can be defined as a trilogy - this is probably because one movie is to long and it would sell better in 3 movies. When Tolkien wrote his book it was ONE book. But the publisher did not like it as one and split it up in 3 books - I say it is still one book and I say the same concerning the movie - all were made at the same time as one movie though it were being sold as 3 - but this was based on economy.
One could also argue for that Star Wars ep. 1-6 (or ep 4-6 and 1-3) is one movie.
But most IMPORTANT - that people understand that we are talking all Star Wars or all Lord of the Rings episodes - trilogy or movie it doesn't matter for the voting. Voting for best episodes have been there before - and this one too (the thread you showed me - but only 3 persons voted - it would be nice that a lot vote for this poll).
LOTR.People might wanna separate Star Wars into the original trilogy or the new trilogy but as soon as Episode 1 came out Star Wars stopped being a trilogy.

Imdb is greater - depending of what one seek of course. Just information of movies and actors and votes then imdb is the greatest of all - though there is no discussions and polls, which makes KMC great.
