KMC Forums - Kyle Reese, Michael Biehn and Terminator

Just reposting this from my Tumblr page really to get views/thoughts on this...

So…just 1 very simple question…in what UNIVERSE was Michael not given an award, recognition or…SOMETHING about his performance of Kyle Reese?

Everyone goes on and on about the Terminator and Arnold Schwarzenegger, don’t get me wrong, Arnold is one of my all time favorite actors and the Terminator really helped his career.

But…he portrayed a killing machine, with almost no character development and just wielding weapons and killing everyone.

By comparison, you have Kyle Reese who suffers heavily from PSTD fighting in a shithole against killer machines, sent back in time to protect someone, developing emotions for said person and dies protecting her.

Not to mention, Biehn had literally the best dialogue in the entire movie and showed great emotion with his words and actions. To give some great quotes..

“You still don’t get it do you? He’ll find her, that’s what he does. THAT’S ALL HE DOES! YOU CAN’T STOP HIM, HE’LL WADE THROUGH YOU, REACH DOWN HER THROAT AND PULL HER ****ING HEART OUT!”

Yet Arnold gets all the attention, I don’t hate Arnold, I love him as the Terminator and also in the other films, he was a fantastic antagonist in T1. It’s just…I’m not seeing how Biehn doesn’t get more recognition for his role as Kyle Reese.

He delivered the role with such a fantastic performance and....everyone just seems to see the Terminator and it's not like Kyle wasn't shown enough in the movie either.
