Has anyone seen the import movie, "The Eye"? A Hong Kong suspense/horror film by the Pang Brothers.
This movie scared the $#!+ out of me! It's about a woman who lost her eyesight when she was a child and has just recently undergone eye operation to make her see again. What happens after is what makes this a great movie.
Yeah, most of you would say that it uses the same formulas of recent suspense/horror movies, but it does have qualities unique to itself.
For those of you people waiting for another opportunity of scaring yourself watching a movie, I suggest you try and see "The Eye".
Watch it alone or with a few friends..in the night.. in the dark... to get the best effect! .....
The cinematography of The Eye was very good, considering it's an HK film which isn't exactually very good at these stuff unless it's some martial arts film. I still dont think it was scary at all. Personally I rate it an average film, not very impressed but it's one of those rent only films if poss to me.
If you do wanna buy it I suggest you visit your local China Town, they will always have the film!
I've got use to watching HK horror films, been watching them since I was a little kiddie. I haven't seen any really really scary films in which you watch and get shocked. The last film that's had an after effect is definetly The Ring (Japanese version). Not because it was scary in film, but it's the questions you start asking yourself afterwards!
Questions afterwards? Hmm. True. But for myself, The Eye was still the scariest. And it freaked me out longer (after watching it) than The Ring.
I dont know but, it's images were just more vivid. But I love both films though.
Do you know any more movies with the same theme that you guys could recommend?
Well this movie has peaked my interest. I had never heard of it, but I dont hear alot about HK movies other than martial art films.

Have To agree with Dejio, The Eye was a creepy horror flick. Excellent effects, good plot, above average actors. There have been plenty of movies that are similar to The Eye, but nonetheless, there were enough chills to rank it as one of the better scary films to come along in quite some time. Glad to see Palm Pictures has brought it to the big screen in the U.S. There's a special edition DVD of The Eye available from Panorama Distribution . It has a making of documentary, trailers, cast / bios, etc... Superb quality picture and 5.1 DTS sound also.
Saw the trailer for this movie tonight looks pretty good to me.

like the other poster said, if you liked the eye and ringu, you should definetly check out Kairo. They are not scary horror movies, but creepy suspensful ones. Those kind of scary movies are the ones i like best because the feeling of dread stays with you long after the movie is over. Just as long as you immerse yourself into the movie and not act all hard when watching a horror movie because horror movies loses its affect unless you let yourself suspend all disbelief. I definetly recommend Kairo, Suicide Circle and Dark Water. All are japanese horror flicks.
You can find the movie on the internet if you want. I saw it, it was decent i guess, one scene i do admit scared me a bit. Overall it was actualy well produced and a well excuted story for a HK production, compared to some HK movies.
