I dunno if any of you have heard of or seen this movie, its a indipendant and very very controversial film that was released earlier this year. its only playing at one theater around here and being the lazy guy i am, i downloaded it... now if you havent heard of this movie then read on to the next paragraph... if you already know what the movie is about skip it...
For those of you who havent heard of this movie... it is an italian (i think) movie with a pretty generic plot, a woman gets raped, then the rapist is hunted down by her friend and boyfriend... however, thats where the normallity ends...the story is told backwards, much like memento. starting when the 2 friends of the raped and murdered woman find the rapist and proceed to beat his head to a bloody pulp in one of the most horrendous and gruesomely real looking deaths ive ever seen, this scene made me feel nearly nautious which as many of you can guess isnt something ive ever felt before during a movie... and if you have a weak stomach stay clear of this movie, because this scene wasnt even the worst part... i wasnt able to watch the whole movie, because the file i downloaded was french dubbed with no subtitles, so i couldnt understand any dialogue... however...the visual power of the film is far more intriguing them im sure the dialogue is....and the visual power hits its peek when we witness a scene that is sure to go down in film history as one of the most disturbing and downright disgusting scenes ever in a horror movie or any movie...and that is teh rape scene... it lasts for 12 minutes...yes 12 minutes... and its done in such a way not glorifying it at all with music or anything of that sort...we basically see a girl walking...she goes into an underpass as a shortcut and witness a man hitting a woman....the man notices the woman watching and turns on her... pulling a knife and continuing to rape her and eventually kill her.... i showed it to my mom and it brought her to tears...and she has seen all the same rape/revenge movies i have over the years and agreed that this was the worst... what made it the worst was it is as if it was filmed by just some guy who happened to be there...no music... no cuts... just continuous filming for 12 minutes as we watched from the very beginning to the very end.... this is wear i stopped watching the movie because the rest was dialogue and as i said i couldnt understand it.... but these 2 scenes alone effected me more then most full movies do...and if you enjoy watching movies that will haunt you for days and make you sick to your stomach...like i spit on your grave or any of those... then this is definately for you...but be prepared for something you havent seen before...
Now to those of you who have heard about it... it lives up to everything...the scenes are just as horrible...actually worse then i was expecting... the actors are very good, especially for no name actors... the rape scene was done very well and was like watching a real rape...not a movie rape... since i didnt watch the whole movie due to language restraints...i cant say much about the rest of the movie... the editing is very flashing and cutting edge...and the whole movie seems to be filmed like a documentary almost...dodgy camera movements and eerie lighting really capture the mood well... i suggest anyone who enjoys these types of movies to see it...but dont go on a full stomach..and dont expect to leave hungry...
Ive heard about this movie in Ebert & Ropert and it looks interesting but i stll dunno if any of the theathers but i guess ill see it when it comes out on DVD.

oh I knew this lame ass reply had to come, and of course it came from mr goody two shoes. NO MAH it has nothing to do with either prejudice or bigoty, why the hell should I watch French, Dutch, Swedish German, Spanish or Norwegian movies? Never felt interest for movies from these countries, I dont watch too many english movies either since ,in my mind, there aint too many interesting plots comming from that direction.
I choose too watch movies that sounds interesting to me, I dont attend movies because of wishes to be seen as a multi cultural person cause that is so hip at the moment.
em that didnt make much sense finti..point is you're avoiding potential great movie excperiences cause of the language..but! whatever floats your boat!
didnt make sense?, well if that was hard to comprehend then.
No, if you read what I wrote earlier you would have seen that I dont find movies from these countries interesting. Great movie experience is what you make of it on a personal level, and since I have no interest in movies from these countries they could never be great movie experience for me.
Did this make more sense or do you need it in with a teaspoon
