I've just watched X-Men 2 again yesterday.
And I must tell you guys, this movie definitely gets better with repeated viewing.
Here's the Good and Bad of it:
Good:
Lots of new mutant X-Men
Great action sequences.
Nightcrawler truly shined on this movie.
The movie was longer.
Great special effects.
Bad:
Too many trivial plot lines.
Unconvincing acting by some actors [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Cyclops
Some special effects were sloppy, like the effects on their jet.
Spoilers:
The ending [SPOILER - highlight to read]: left me questioning the writer of the movie.
Why did Jean Grey need to leave the jet just to save the X-Men
when she could have done everything while she was inside?
Unless of course you consider that the director needs her
to be separated with the rest of the X-Men in preparation for part 3
where she turns into Phoenix. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Also, it was unbelievable that the X-Men
were in real danger during the flood,
because Nightcrawler could have easily teleported all of them
to higher ground without even breaking a sweat.
I'm a new Nightcrawler fan!
The battle of Wolverine with Yuriko was awesome! [SPOILER - highlight to read]: My only gripe was they left the audience guessing Yuriko's true character in the movie.
Even for a fan of the X-men titles like myself, it was hard to know her true nature.
I didn't like what happened to her in the end. It was too harsh.
I felt pity for her because she was only being controlled after all.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but, since when did Yuriko have healing factor?
I could go on and on, (still haven't mentioned Magneto's escape on his prison cell!!) but I'll leave the discussions until several of you has had their posts.
All in all, I enjoyed the movie [SPOILER - highlight to read]: even though I had some minor gripes.
I recommend you guys watch the movie and have a great time.
But of course, you don't need me to tell you that.
it actually got good reviews in hte press here too, surprisingly enough. Aint gonna see it though never cared for the cartoon hero transformation to the silver screen
Wow it was miles better than the first one ~ I may have to go see it again though coz when you go with 5 other high teenage girls it doesn't give you the full experience of the film as well as ruining the experience for other viewers. some of my antics today included shouting 'Ho' at the screen when Rogue was on ... anyway ...
I think that the concept was cool but poorly carried, and only some of the special effects were good.
All around 8/10 (mostly due to fact that scenes contained Shawn Ashmore wearing Boxers)
I was very impressed with this movie. Far better than the first one.
Jackman and Cummings stole the show.
I've been an avid X-men freak for over 10 years, so this Movie was a special treat. Singer did a great job at packing such an intertwined comic into two hours. For someone who is not familiar with the X-Men the movie can be a bit confusing but entertaining. If you are familiar, you will recognise allot of little hints to the Sequel.
To answer Dejio; In the Movie jean was questioning her new powers and was realizing there was something in hibernation inside her. A Phoenix must burn and die in order to be reborn. Read the Phoenix saga.
She (or Phoenix) realized this, that is why she sacrificed herself. She'll be back.
Nightcrawler could not have possibly teleported the crew out of the jet because he needs to know where he's teleporting to and had no idea how large the flood would be or where safe ground would be. Plus if he teloports to much he can exhaust himself. (See Comix)
I'm also surprised that the pre-reviews did'nt mention anything about Legion (Jason, Strykers son) Then again it could of been Jason Wynngaurd of the Hellfire Club because Xavier called him the great Illusionist...I think he was Legion.
True about Yuriko, She and Logan have a past, I think he recognized that in the end. No Yuriko never had a healing factor that know of.
All and all the movie was very well done. If they went exactly by Comix then we would be looking at seeing X15 in the future.
I say don't worry to much about the details just enjoy the Movie.
Colossus had a great cameo, he'll be a major player in X3, Did any of you see gambit (Remy) mentioned on the computer???? I was hoping to see more of a personable cameo fro him...oh well.
Hey people... I have seen the movie twice and I don't remember the colossus cameo. When was it and what did he look like? P.S. I'm not a big fan of comics but the movies have been great and when I was younger I watched the cartoon series alittle.
Also, what is the actors name that played night crawler? I know that he played in Romey and Michelle's High school reunion. Dude is hot in this movie and he played night crawler excellent and he was sexy how he portrayed him. but my friends are huge x-men fans and they said he was totally different in the movie than in the comics.
Crystal: Well it sure looks like your Colossus question was answered. He was the big kid who took all the other kid mutants through the secret tunnel.
Catch 22!: That sounds logical, because legion was actually Xaviers son in the Comix.
Crystal: If they made the movie exactly like the comic it would be lame. Wolverine would be 5'3" and wearing the black and yellow spandex as would the rest of the crew. I agree with you, Nightcrawler was played very well indeed. I loved the the addition of the angelic symbols he carved into himself.
absolutley, i cant wait either. i just hope they dont wait for like 3 years. if they could get one out every year that would be great. i never read the comics and rarely watched the cartoon, but this movie has kind of sparked an interest and i would like to learn more about the characters. the only problem is if i go with the comis books and start out at #1 i would probably have to pay thousands, hum. owell.
