ok, saw it. wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. surprisingly the best part of the movie was the rap battles, they were pretty interesting and funny. other then that, the whole movie is just recycled. guy growing up in a broken home, with mom dating some jerk. jerk doesnt get along with the son. end up fighting. everyones happy. blah blah. nothing special, but not bad. 6-10
I agree with backfire, same old story. I would say that Eminem did do a good job compared to the train wreck I was expecting, and OMG brittany looks so hot. (6/10)

I thought 8 mile was a horrible movie. The movie should have really been getting started right when it ended. I thought the movie was done really distasteful and it was a huge disappointment.
A lot of people had to concede that 8 Mile wasn't as bad as feared- or maybe hoped.
But what I hear a lot from critics is that if you compare what is good and bad about it (rap good, Eminem good, atmosphere good, plot bad and cliched, people bad and cliched) they probably would have been better off dumping the story and made it an ACTUAL bio of Eminem's life- it would most likely have been a better story.

I thought 8 Mile was amazing. It really got to me. I really respect eminem as an artist(rapper) so seeing a bit of what he went through before really made me understand him a lot more. I thought he did a great job acting and think he should star in more movies for sure. I really dont like Britney Murphy as an actress though. I liked her in a few movies and not in others. Kim Basinger is a great actress and I think she did a great job as well.. But yeah.. All in all... 8 MILE was GREAT!
Frodo: I cant do this, Sam.
Sam: I know. Its all wrong. By rights we shouldnt be here...but we are. Its like in the great srories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of Darkness andanger, they were, and sometimes you didnt want to know the end because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad happened... but in the end its only a passing thing. The Shadow even darkness will pass. A new day WILL come. And when the sun shines it will shine out clearer. Those are the stories that stay with you and meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But, I think, Mr. Frodo, i do understand... iknow now. Folk in those stories have a lot of chances to turn back, but they didnt. They kept going because they were holding on to something!
FRODO: What are we holding onto, Sam?
Sam: That theres some good in this world, Mr Frodo and its worth fighting for.
I went out and bought it almost as soon as I could. After a while it gets boring but almost any movie does. I loved it.. I am a complete die hard Eminem fan though.
