everything! mostly though it is the development of each story from the silmarillion to ROTK, but some of the books do include new info.

History of Middle-Earth, it tells how Middle-Earth was formed and what stories it has to do with Middle-Earth. *shrugs* The Silmarillion is a great history book of stories that occured in Middle-Earth.

The History shows mainly earlier versions of the known stories, only few completely new ones (like tal-elmar, new shadow, lost road)
