Who would you take for your own?
Im not trying to create one of those horrid fan-girl threads where everyone is like "OMG I WILL TAKE LEGOLAS AND TAKE HIM TO MY BEDROOM", but im trying to create a nice, cool thread about who you'd most admire having as your own. Who and Why and Where?
I would love to talk to Tolkien and ask him how he came up with an entire world. Just to pick his brain for an hour would be amazing. Languages, races, wars, and love. He was a genius.
Well, I shall be different and say that if I could take anyone for my own...it would have to be Gollum! ( of course this would have to be before he fell into the fire of Mount Doom ).
But Gollum himself was an interesting person...and there was still good left in him...even at the end. It was the Ring that had ahold of him, and with the Ring destroyed...he would have certainly been rid of the hold that it had on him and his desire to be evil.
He would return to being Smeagol, and in doing so...be someone that I would enjoy fishing with !!!!
Tolkien most probably, for the reasons stated above.
Hmm, I'd like the idea of listening to some ancient Elf telling me his ancestory...."So my great-great Uncle, on my cousin's side, twice removed, named Feanor, got another wench, after which his first died for unbeknown reasons..."

Who would I choose? Tough choice but Id have to go with Legolas, not just for the outter beauty. But for the inner beauty as well. He's a very quiet elf, majorly skilled on the bow AND the sword, never gets hurt or scarred, stays perfect, etc. Plus he's the prince of Mirkwood, the least known place (in the movies, that is) unlike everywhere else. Id just like to see his home life.

How can you not like Gandalf? He's my favorite character fro LotR (besides Frodo and Faramir). He may be old but he still has a few cards to play. He's wise and full of knowledge that's unequal to any of the other LotR fellowship members. If anything he may even beat Saruman when it comes to knowledge and wisdom.
I would also like to take Faramir so he could show me a thing or two in swordsplay and being a better ranger.
Pippin. It would be so cool to just hang around and have a laugh with him. Show him this world, outside Middle Earth and stop him getting into too much trouble. I could see if he wants any shoes.. and then go to a buffet and eat myself sick with him.
=)
I would revive Boromir because he was the greatest warrior of Gondor. To be a gondorian captain would be great.

Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours... you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well
Definitely Haldir. He's a noble elf and he will fight till the end for those he loves. He's beautiful and he has the best qualities. I shouldn't see why anyone wouldnt liek Haldir.

faramir would be my first choice, second would be boromir. i was dissapointed that peter jackson went out of his way to make boromir look so bad and evil. in the book he was so much less arraggant, a lot les greedy, and a lot less foolish. he was also very loving, supposedly. he grew really attached to merry and pippin the in the books.
