will the movies be longer ?
Peter jackson said theres alot of filmed stuff that was not included in the EE'S . I was reading this at wikipedia.org
To avoid pressure, Jackson hired a different editor on each film. John Gilbert worked on the first film, Mike Horton and Jabez Olssen on the second, and longtime Jackson collaborator Jamie Selkirk and Annie Collins on the third. Daily rushes would often last up to four hours, with scenes being done throughout 1999–2002 for the rough (4 1/2 hours) assemblies of the films.[7] In total, six million feet of film (over 1,800 km)[15] was edited down to the 11 hours and 23 minutes (683 minutes) of Extended DVD running time. This was the final area of shaping of the films, when Jackson realized that sometimes the best scripting could be redundant on screen, as he picked apart scenes every day from multiple takes.
I think there is more to come ? 41 hours of film

He'll save it for the 25th anniversary edition if he makes one. They'll move them onto new formats soon, such as Blu-Ray, so we may find some there.
I'm more interested in a possible Children of Hurin film though, think if Tolkien got inspired and wrote a Shakespearean tragedy, and you have the tale of Turin Turumbar.
