Need help naming a robot cartoon!
I am trying to remember a cartoon that I used to watch as a kid but for the life of me can't remember the name of it.
This show (a cartoon) featured the human characters getting into robots (mechs?) and fighting (shooting missles and lasers and such). This was a one side vs. the other but the robots were not a great deal bigger than the humans. The cartoon aspect was very well done, not "cartoonish" perhaps Japanese?
Please help...

those are old Japanese anime-ish cartoons I just provided - although I'm not sure if that's it - just guessing here, lol.
