Did Mace train Maul?

This is an Aldera Net theory. They say that a recent picture of Mace Windu shows that he has a different lightsabre from his origional one. The new one looks identical to one half of Darth Mauls. If you add this to Lucas saying that one member of the Jedi Council already knows about the Sith and Qui- Gonn saying that Maul was well trained in the Jedi arts it is possible.
Palpatine also says to Maul "you have been well trained my young apprentice". It is as if he is praising someone for training him. Could it have been Mace Windu?

Mace training Maul, that would be an interesting twist. Mace evens says "the Sith could not have returned without us knowing," could he have known they had returned and it was partly his fault. Maybe he said that to cover his tracks. Here is an idea: maybe OB1 finds out and confronts Mace and Mace becomes very defensive. As OB1 keeps digging in Mace busts out some Force-lightening (Remember the picture of OB1 on the ground screaming in pain?) then Anakin sees this and uses his anger/agression towards Mace resulting in his first kill and the start down the dark path. OB1 tries to get him to stop by Anakin cannot control his anger. Wouldn't that be a cool way to end E2.

geeez....'stupid' is a prety strong word...

I have more of an open mind to these things....(I would have thought the idea of Luke and Leia being brother and sister was stupid back in the 80's...especially since she kissed him like 2 or 3 times....Luke also had the hots for her in Ep V...yuck!)

nothing would surprise me with Lucas these days...

However.....it would seam that if Mace was hiding anything like that, he would not being helping yoda fingure out who was destroyed "the master or the apprentice"...he would just play dumb.

On the other hand....it would explain why mace insisted that anakin will NOT be trained by the jedi...(maybe he had other plans for him)I know it was a group/council decision, but he seamed extra annoyed by the idea of it...

Re: did mace train maul

I think it's an interesting theory but it's more likely that it's just a coquensidence...but if Mace was Maul's master maybe Mace never knew what happened to Maul..Maybe Maul fails his tests and took off and Mace never heard from him again...They never found out who their mysterious sith was so how would Mace know?

Re: did mace train maul

I'm sure they would have by the end of Episode-I, Obi Wan must have reported back to the Council on what he experiencedand enough people on Naboo daw Maul for there to be a full and acurate description.

Re: did mace train maul

I'm glad some people think it is stupid as I would love to hear what they have to say if they are wrong.smile
Why would Lucas film release new pictures of Windu with a lightsaber identical to Darth Mauls? Remember that these things have to be designed and constructed by props masters so it is unlikley that it would be a coincidence.

The idea of Anakin getting angry at Windu is what I was thinking. "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering" I think we will see Anakin go through all of these things.
I think that Mace realised that the tide was turning and the Sith were back and so he helped Palpatine train Maul so that he might survive.
What I also think would be cool is if once Anakin turns, he betrays Mace and kills him so that Windu gets what he deserves.
The people who think this is a stupid idea can you please give reasons.

Re: did mace train maul

I never said he was his master just that he trained him. Maul's purpose in life was to kill Jedi, that is what he was trained for and who would be perfect to train a Sith to kill Jedi? Another Jedi of course. And not just any Jedi but Mace Windu who we already know from Nick Gillard is deadly. Any other reasons that you think this is stupid?

In Episode 1 it is said that the sith can hide itself. It would be cool if Mace Windu is a sith and can hide is sith powers but still use some of the lightside. Even tho he knows about his dark power he is afraid of showing it, cause he would think the jedi council would do something like destroy him. Kinda like Zekk in the Young Jedi Knights books. Half good, Half bad. That's what I think.

Re: did mace train maul

A lot of people have made a lot over that pic of Mace where the saber changes.

Have you thought of this, perhaps the picture was taken with NO saber and the saber added later. Perhaps someone as Lucasfilm screwed up when they were foing the composite.

Also King Jedi, with 20 months to go there are are bound to be a loit of things said that end up being way of the mark. I for one will just shrug and say "such is life"

Let's face it. WE ARE ALL GUESSING HERE. Plut our ideas and theories across, some will be wrong (probably most of it) and we may be lucky and get a little right. That's the law of averages for you.

Actually Moobi....you are on to something about the dark side / light side idea, but I think you have the wrong guy though...

Plo Koon has dark powers already that he uses for good. He is the only jedi that can use the force lightning that we saw papy use in ROTJ...

His race were Sith Lords a millenia ago...

He is currently on the council, but we have not seen him in action yet...He is always in contol of his dark powers, but the emperor may push him over the edge someday...who knows....

Not exactly cannon but we do know, from the pictures that started circulating the Internet today, the Plo Koon will be in Episode-II so you may be onto something.

The Episode-I insodes guide doesn't mention any of that info though, it just says he comes from a long line of Jedi.

I wonder what he looks like under that face mask, do you think we'll find out. That could be how he is killed if his mask were ripped from his face.

Re: did mace train maul

Actually I think there is a concept drawing of what he looks like sans mask on his page on the offical site...I think he looks a little like a scared long haired pug..
He's still my favorite jedi master though...
