GL's early comments on Episode III
We are a bit late off the mark here, but GL recently made a few comments about Episode III that are worth everyone looking at:
-
Lucas on Qui-Gon Jinn’s voice in Episode II:
STARLOG: And isn’t that Qui-Gon Jinn’s [Liam Neeson] voice we hear during Anakin’s attack on the Tusken Raiders who killed Shmi Skywalker [Pernilla August]?
LUCAS: That’s a fan thing, isn’t it? It’s actually more than that. It’s a plot point. All I can really say is that you’ll find out [more] in the next film. If you thought really hard, you would probably be able to figure it out, but it really is a set-up for the next film. It’s connected with the whole ability to be brought into and become a part of the Force, but still be able to retain YOUR ability – which, up to this point, Anakin couldn’t do. We talked to Liam about [recording new dialogue], and we went back and forth [about it]. This [dialogue] is something we already had [from Menace]. Next time will be a little more complicated.
Lucas on Boba Fett:
“Boba WILL be in Episode III, but his role definitely won’t be larger. He’s in a transition period of becoming a bounty hunter. The next film takes place two or three years later, so Boba would only be 13 and still wouldn’t fit in the suit.
Lucas on killing Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Mace Windu:
“Sam’s a little concerned that I make it nice and dramatic. It won’t be in the movie’s first scene.”
Lucas on Darth Vader:
STARLOG: What of all the plot threads and character tidbits that remain to be tied up in Episode III are you – the guy who created this whole universe – most excited to get on film?
LUCAS: The scene where Anakin does actually become Vader is pretty good [as written in Lucas’ Episode III outline]. I mean, I like it. It’s a little in the vocabulary of…I don’t know how much I want to give away…but it’s in the vocabulary of a time – of the 1930s and 1940s. It’s a pretty neat little thing, I think, and hopefully it’s going to work.
STARLOG: Will we see more of Anakin or Darth Vader in Episode III?
LUCAS: It’s mostly Anakin.

As taken from TFN.
So, nothing we didn't already pretty much know but nice to have it all said and open. Also sorts out that Liam didn't actually record new dialogue but will be next time!

I'm making the JediPoodoo.tk story, it's like the scriptment of EpII, so I follow rumors very closely...
GL said
"It’s connected with the whole ability to be brought into and become a part of the Force, but still be able to retain YOUR ability – which, up to this point, Anakin couldn’t do"
ANAKIN couldn't do... but he's not a ghost yet! can anyone explain this so I can update the story?
I referred to it sometime ago, about EPIII mainly featuring Anakin and not Vader. I got it from these quotes.
And I figured there wasn't much news in it. We knew about QGJ's voice, and about it being a plot point because GL said way before AOTC the disapearing act was a plot point. And about Boba... well, that was obvious I think that we wouldn't see him yet as a bounty hunter: too young.
So I used the bit of info that really said something particular about EPIII and that is that we will only see Vader for a little bit at the end.
I'm sure SLJ is a more than "a little" concerned about Windu dying an honorable death. I still think it will have something to do with Yoda being able to make a clean escape, thus Windu's death will not have been in vain.
"Big battle at the beginning of the movie, than it goes small and personal" (GL quote)
Mace WON’T die in that! (GL quote: he won't die in the first battle)
I think the first battle will be the Jedi Purge or the end of the Clone Wars with a lot of Jedi dying , the second one Mace death, the third one OB1 vs Anakin…
Not the Jedi purge... no way. I think it may be the end of the Clone Wars where good ole OB1 is "general". After that Palpy will make his last move to make himself Emperor. I reallyw oinder if we will actually see much of the Purge. I would like it though. I was sort of thinking about that that it would be nice if it'd be along the lines of "Tombstone" that Vader goes out to kill Jedi in the way Wyatt Earp goes out to kill the Cowboys. "I'm coming after you.... and hell's coming with me!!!"
well, just wrote it because among fans (EU mostly I thin) the purge is something big as the Clone Wars... but now I'm more thinking the death of Mace is the start of it, and that we perhaps won't see much of it, except the quote from Tarkin "You my friend is all what is left of that ancient religion"
It may start. I'm pretty sure we see the Jedi Council destroyed and some key Jedi dead and the start of the purge announced. By the time ANH comes around Vader is indeed "all that is left of their religion".
We'll have to see something. It 'feels' to have been quite a while back when OB1 talks about it. Otherwise it doen't really explain in ANH why all the Jedi are gone.
