A lot of people have had different ideas on what Smith’s role is now that he is not an agent (i.e. will turn good in revelations, is still fighting for the machines). However, I have heard little about what I see Smith turning into. First lets look at some information we receive from Reloaded/Enter the Matrix:
1. After the meeting with all the captions, and after neo and the agents have fought we see Smith with another Smith saying that (not exact quote) “everything is going as before, well not exactly as before” then we see the Smiths laughing.
2. When Neo meets the Oracle, Smith seems to know exactly where to find him for this meeting, but instead of coming before the meeting he comes after, for some reason it seems that Smith wants Neo to hear the information the Oracle has to say (how to get the keymaker). Although this has been theorized that Smith finds neo with a trace program (red candy from the oracle), if you watch the film closely you see that Neo never eats the candy.
3. When playing as Niobe in Enter the Matrix, after speaking to the Oracle and being lead into the back door programming hallway by Seraph. Niobe runs into Smith who says (not exact quote) “Not exactly who I was waiting for”. The time frame of this meeting is right after Niobe blows up the power plant and before neo enters the hallway.
4. Once Neo and Morpheous enter the hallway to see the Architect and run into Smith they ask him what he is doing there. Smith tells him (not exact quotes) “The same thing you are here for absolute power.”
Looking at this information I cannot help but think that Smith is only fighting for himself, and will continue to do this in Revelations. Item 4 is the tidbit of information that gets me the most. I seems to me that he is trying to take over the Matrix. He was waiting in that hallway for one reason, to get through the door and see the Architect for himself. For what purpose? Absolute power, to control the matrix.
These are just my thoughts, I could have gone on long, but I am interested to see what others think.
i'd love 2 make a prediction, but knowin the brothers nothin we think is gonna be exactly as we think..... lol i'm startin 2 sound more and more like morpheus every day....guess we'll find out in november...
hmmmm...in enter the matrix when niobe goes to see the oracle she says that neo has been seperated from his body when he touched the source. So how could that be before neo has entered the hallway?
