i can't recall them ever saying it was going to get rough. i do know that they said they were getting aggravated.

Nope they are in the car. When Morpheus puts the Daikatana through the chair, it pierces him so he turns all Ghosty on us and exits the car. Then he goes into the sitting position and his bro runs into him and he re-appears in the car which is when they say:
