Oddly(its only odd if you know me personally) Superman was my first favorite, he got me into comics, even before my father started bringing home the crates of fairly unknown comics. though now, while he is still up there on my "favorite characters" list, he is beat out by a few, like Dr. Doom, Magneto, and Thanos(notice how they are all villains...)

Havok. I'm just discovering him as my all time fav. I was always bombarded with tons of heroes and liking them all was great. I took like 30 years to discover the kind of energy power combination i prefer. I like someone who is like a weapon shield could use to stop someone big. Plasma cannons can stop Juggernaut in his tracks for a while. Havok may not be the tactician his older bro is but he has an emotional stability that no other character has displayed in the same manner.
He has just assumed leadership of X, so i guess thats perfect timing. I think X-men 141 is when i first started collecting comics for a hobby. In that iss. Havok is an X-men and has to save some members form Dr. Doom.

Batman, Batman, Batman. From the corny (great) 60's TV show, to the movies, to the comics, to the awesome animated cartoon, everything.
Kinda liked Superman, being a kid it was inevitable I liked the most famous superhero of all time. Funnily enough, I didn't care all that much for Supes, and never have done.
Wasn't into Spider-man until I was a bit older. The comics came first, with my first ever comic being sent from a pen-pal in the USA to me in UK. My pen-pal shown me how awesome Spiderman was, I was about nine or ten then. Then came the cartoon which was awesome.
Never liked Hulk until recently. Those teenage years made me realise just how much I can relate to a guy who can flip out and go mental.

Batman. Way back when I was a little kid in Vietnam, as I was traveling from Saigon to the countryside, at a stop my parents bought me the book about Batman. It wasn't exectly a comic, but it was still a book about Batman.

Batman. It actually started when i was 8 and saw the Batman 60's TV series.Man i love that show!that was my fisrt dose of batman. After this i started dressing as the bat, running up an down my neighbourhood, my friends and i,climbing walls and once we also got hurt bad, falling off!Our obsession with Bats reached a point where we followed a garbageman who our neighbours suspected was the one behind all the disapearing bikes. So we caught him in the act of trying to steal my frinds bike.He saw us and ran.We ran after him.Up our street.Croosed the main road.Up the construction site atop a slight hill and that where we were stopped due to the fact that my friend, was riding her bike that was about to be stolen and she couldn't climb the hill with it so she fell backwards and got hurt.We stopped and tried to help her.Thats when he ran out of sight and our mothers came and grounded us for like a week.Yup, we sure made batman proud!aaahh sweet memories.
I sort of forgot about batman after i left the place and just a about 2 months ago one of my new best friends brough up batman again.I discovered the animated batworld through him and i became obsessed.Mainly due to Mask of the Phantasm.

Probably Spider-Man, and later the Spider-Man rip off Scarlet Spider. I remember getting Spider-Man comics from my dad and cousin as a kid. And the Ninja Turtles, they're an all time kickass classic.

Conan is badass. Although I like Robert E. Howard's books more than the comics. His Solomon Kane stories are awesome, too.

Superman was my first favorite. I don't remember exactly how I got into it but it was shortly before the death of superman line, when I was in second grade. Imagine my suprise when so soon after I picked up my first Supes comic they killed him off. Of course, being in third grade at the time I didn't see that they would bring him back.
Nowadays my favorite is Batman...favorite books of all time are The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke.

As a kid I used to love watching the reruns of the old Flash Gordon serials on TV. Once when i was sick in bed my mother saw a comic that she thought was flash gordon and brought it home to cheer me up.
I was seven years old and met Barry Allen - the original FLASH! He could run so fast everyone else looked like they were standing still, his costume came out of his RING and he used his power to fight crime.
I was hooked for life.
haven't thought about that in a while - nice thread.
