No Fantastic Four 3 but...

News

No Fantastic Four 3?
Source: MTV
March 20, 2008

We're not really surprised by Chris Evans' comments to MTV, because 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios are leaning more towards a Silver Surfer spin-off with a script by J. Michael Straczynski than they are moving forward with a third Fantastic Four movie.

"I'm pretty sure we won't do [another] one," Evans said, adding that as far as he's concerned, it's "a closed book."

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige last summer said the Silver Surfer movie had been "moved to the forefront" of discussions. And just last month, Straczynski said the spin-off will cover the origin of the character and will feature Galactus.

I am yet to find a necessary reason for SUrfer being in the second movie. Of course, marketing is the obvious and most likely, only answer. Fantastic four 2 was the most expensive cheap piece of shit ive ever sat through. However, im not going to go into that, the shit list for Rise of the Surfer is endless. The failure of these movies is sad, considering that the movies had an incredible cast.

Having seen how the Surfer was portrayed, visually, in Rise of the surfer. I would very much like to see him in his own separate movie. As long as the film has a respective budget and holds no ties what so ever to the turd that was fantastic four 2. I think a Silver Surfer movie could be gold. I do not trust this producer, however. Galactus will have to resemble his appearance in the fantastic four movie and i dont know well that would work. It would take a perfect screenplay to make this movie work

They need to stay away from the Ultimate marvel comics for these fantastic four related movies, Seriously a cloud for galactus with the second movie. I know its something along those lines in the ultimate fantastic four comics but i'd rather see him as the gigantic being from space as i know him.

Well, Marvel has confirmed we'll see the REAL Galactus in this film.

I wouldn't mind him looking like he did in MUA, that was realistic in itself.

If they can do Godzilla and king kong these days with CGI then Galactus should'nt be any different.

Problem there is the non-comic audience. A giant purple-clad man with a stupid-looking antenna hat isn't the easiest thing to sell to an audience who gets mystified with super-cosmic power and anything that doesn't seem at least somewhat plausible. Much as comic fans don't like to admit it, the movies aren't made for us...they're made for the much larger general audience. Among all the faults of FF2, the Galactus-cloud was one of the only decisions I actually understood and agreed with.

Yet an alien that looks exactly like us and wears underwear over his pants is an easy sell stick out tongue

I seriously think the choice to make galactus a giant cosmic cloud was because of budget. This would also explain why the SIlver Surfer took a back seat to the story and screen time. You cannot tell me that if a non comic audience can accept a giant man made of rock, a man whom stretches and a cosmic warrior that flies around on a surf board as being fine. They cannot accept the true form of galactus. It is fantasy, people that pay to see these movies, comic fan or not, know what to expect.

I just hope they do not hype this movie with an awesome teaser trailer and the actual film is a letdown.

Is this gonna be a prequal to FF2 or is set after FF2, cause the origin could be flashbacks but I dunno...

Either one looks perfect for adapting onto film.

But still. I know regular peeps might think it is too strange for their liking.

Honestly, I'm sick and tired of film directors, producers, writers, studios, etc. (whoever is responsible really) trying to "appeal" to the regular people. It defeats the purpose of making a quality adaption of stories such as this. People might respond to what I'm saying by stating "Well if they didn't appeal to the masses, then the movie wouldn't get funding or it wouldn't do well at the box office!" To that, I say two things: 1) Box office doesn't mean shit. Let me repeat that, it does not mean shit. Box office numbers determine how many shitty sequels are going to made and what dumb movie our stupid audience prefers on any given weekend. This is not the definitive rule, but I think many of you get my point. 2) If a filmmaker wants to make a quality adaption (or film for that matter) there are ways to get around any obstacles that might be spawned from this. If one really cares about the project they are investing time in, they wouldn't produce a piece of garbage under any circumstances, or at least they would make a solid attempt at making something worthwhile. I know I would.

It makes me want to cry sometimes no expression how hard is it to just stick to the basic concept of a comic, rather than changind things no expression e.g Spiderman organic web fluid and giant galactus space cloud laughing out loud
