Why is Dumbledore so angry?
Now that we have seen many trailers and scenes and interviews for Goblet of Fire, one question remains still for me. Why is Dumbledore so angry with Harry? In other words, why does he yell in anger when Harry's name comes out of the cup? Also, if you don't know this, later on in the movie Dumbledore throws Harry against a wall shouting if Harry had entered his name. What?
For the true fans of Harry Potter, is this the Dumbledore we all have known from the books? Would the Dumbledore from the books ever shout at Harry like that? No way. The only time Dumbledore is angry at Harry is when Harry's feelings get the better of him, and even then he never shouts, but is just stern.
Now I also believe Mike Newell has done a great job with Goblet of Fire. I mean I actually enjoy watching the previews more then the whole POA movie. But is it possible that no director can capture Dumbledore? Richard Harris did a great job, but he is sadly gone. I also do like Michael Gambon, and the reason I believe some people don't like him is because they haven't really seen him act yet. In POA he is in about 3 scenes and that is it.
But back to the question at hand: Why does Newell make Dumbledore angry? I can't blame Gambon because he is just told what to do. WHY!? Does Newell not know HP or does he think that Dumbledore should be a different kind of character???
Gender: Male Location: England; at least it's not the U.S.
Re: Why is Dumbledore so angry?
Gambon is undoubtedly a brilliant actor, and you're quite in saying that you cannot blame him. However, I believe that Mike Newell is allowing for the non-HP fans who want to watch the movie to be able to relate in greater depth to DD. In that sort of situation, wizard or not, knowing as DD does what is at stake, it would be inhumanly impossible to not flip your lid. Furthermore, also for those who do not know what the TTT entails, it shows that something very serious has happened. On a final note, I saw Karkaroff in the clip where DD throws Harry against a wall - how cool is he!!! That voice is brilliant lol.
I've seen where he puts him against the wall, and well, i don't think its that bad! He looks into his eyes n then realises he didnt put his name in the cup after a few seconds! And we dont know the rest of the scene yet - we only saw a little part.

Anyway, back on topic. I remember reading this very same topic on another thread and someone replied saying "Maybe Dumbledore read Harrys name and Harry was so shocked he cant move and dosnt reply. So Dumbledore then shouts Harrys name". I dunno where they got that from, is it in the book?
Anyway, i watched the trailer again and when Dumbledore shouts, the students in the background are already looking around the room. So Dumbledore must have said Harrys name before that.
