If you mean had he knocked spider-man out or killed him then the thing would've destroyed NYC along with the world, I'm not sure how strong it was. But the second time he did succeed in rebuilding his machine and he was stopped by spider-man who knocked some sence into Ock and him realise what he was doing was wrong.

Now that would be cool if they had a Marvel trilogy of some big event with loads of heroes but it would be difficult to pull off because in a way they would have to re intro the characters again in case people hadn't seen the solo films. But it would never happen
