The Astralplane

Ok! I hope eveyone´s heard of the astralplane, a another plane of existance for telepaths containing everyone´s psyche!
But the astralplane has had many incarnations.
Different artists have had different views of how it looks (mostly absractly though, with planets and stuff) and different writers have had different ideas too.
The question is: Must you have telepathic abilities to fight there, (like under inferno) or can you fight with physical powers (like under onshlaught) and if you get hurt there will you be hurt physicly as well (like Xaviers legs broken by shadow king) ?
What do you think?
Have you any other examples of incoherent facts about this plane or simply want to talk about something relating it in general,
here´s the place to be. 😖mart:

i believe if you get hurt in the astral plane you will get hurt physically as well.
and the astral plane can only be reached by psychic or psionic means.

Generally you seem to have to be a telepath to be effective in the astral plane. As it's usually described as a reality of psionic energy telepaths are the most effective fighters there. Though in the past X story lines various strong willed fighters have proven to be just as effective in that environment. Magik and Magneto have both been able to defend themselves against the Shadow King there.

In terms of getting hurt there.....there have been a lot of inconsistencies on that. During the whole "Dark Phoenix Saga" Cyclops was killed by Mastermind in the astral plane however that didn't translate over into the real world....he was shook up but not dead.

Hope that helped 🙂

I think it depends on how much your mind is enveloped within the astral plane that determines your status when you return

I WANNA SEE JEAN BURN SHADOW KING...MUAHAHAHA

i am alomt positive that storm has been to the astral plane- the shadow king brought her there to try and kill her

I can think of at least two times she definetly was.
One during inferno, and the other when shadow king tricked psylocke into hurt every psychic in the world (and he used storms "foster"-mother from africa to lure the x-men there).

Dr. Strange spends time there on a regular basis as well, so you don't have to be a telepath to get there. TPs have brought non TPs there before. but I don't know of any non-TP getting there w/o some type of assistance (except for mystics).

no, dr. strange is one of the most powerful teleptaths ever

Dr. Strange is not a natural telepath. Virtually any mystic can access the astral plane.

well yeah he aint a mutant but with the EOA he is a very powerful telepath

When you see your mental image get hurt, you get hurt, that simpel!

The Eye has no bearing on his ability to access the astral plane. Mystics do it all the time with no such talisman. He's fought Baron Mordo any number of times astrally, and Mordo doesn't have an Eye or Amulet of Agamotto.

but with the ee he can access it, he canalso do it without it though

As i understand it, the asralplane is the actual source of power for every mystic or psychic or at least a connecting realm between the source and the user.
A psychic channels its energy through the boundaries of his/her genetic code into certain specific effects, while a mystic uses formulas and rituals to shape the energy.
Thats why mystics are usually more flexible while psychics are faster and more precise in using theire powers.
On the astral plane the only thing that matters is willpower, imagination and the ability to manipulate its energies. Nonpsychics or nonmystics only have the first two mentioned tools, so they can do something there (if a p or m channels theire access)
but are somewhat limited.
Since everything happening there is mental, you cant get hurt or die physically BUT
you might believe that you got hurt physically and so the psychic effect might manifest itself through psychosomatic means to the body. If your psyche gets killed, your body theoretically is able to live on as a mindless shell but usually dies too, due to the shock.
Nonpsychics and nonmystics, limited as they are on the astral, should have a better chance of "surviving" theire "death", because they are not as tightly connected to the astral energies and not as "present" on this plane as the psychics and mystics(though the latter ones can usually defend themselves better).

Yes they have, with the help of Xavier, Jean, Psylocke, Emma or another psychic.
