Hellfire Club

Please don't get angry at me when I ask this but I was wondering what exactly is the Hellfire Club? I am a movie goer and I know nothing of the comic verse and I would like to know what it is and who runs it. I come to guys because you all have great answers and most of the info I read on the net about X men I don't understand, and every question I have asked you have answered! Thanks Guys! wink

I tried to type a reply before, but it would have been my first, so they didn't let me until I posted on the "Welcome" board. The above link is a pretty good source, so go there. The short version is that the Hellfire Club's inner circle is composed of greedy superhumans who tried to take control of the Phoenix, facilitating her transformation into Dark Phoenix. How this will be portrayed in the next movie, if it is portrayed, I don't know. I assume badly.
