Figure substitutes?

Playing with Star Wars figures was a mainstay of my childhood. Sometimes, however, substitutions would be required. For example, if you didn't have a Darth Vader figure (which I didn't for a while), you might have to use a Cobra Commander or some such guy.

Or, if you were playing "Dukes of Hazzard", Luke would become Bo, Han would become Luke (Duke), and the gray-haired general from Empire would be Uncle Jesse. Leia was stuck being every female in every scenario because, well...she was the only female.

Naturally, my friends and I never had much use for Leia figures. I had the original and the Bespin version, and they were usually twins who were kidnapped and tied up for most of the adventure.

How about it? Anybody else have any mildly interesting SW figure tales?
