Luke was tossed in the pit in Jabba's palace and a large door opened revealing a hungry (or blood lusted) Rancor. Luke easily defeated it by throwing a skull at the controls of the door and with the controls all screwed up, the door fell on the Rancor which killed it.
Now if Luke didn't think of that idea and the Rancor made it passed the door, what would've happened to Luke? Would he defeat it in another way or would he be Rancor chow?
prolly defeat it in another way. the hero never dies until the end of the movie, or never dies at all.

point. the rancor probably would've just stared at him dumbly for a few seconds then shake its head, then ate Luke.
not a very happy ending for Star Wars.

Maybe when Luke dies, Vader will sense a disturbance in the force meaning that his son died. He will go on a rampage by throwing Sidious over a rail, order the Empire to blow up Jabba's palace, and vows to make the galaxy a better place.
