Star Wars 40th anniversary

I know its abit early to get the party started but after watching Rogue One everyone went home and watched ANH. I came across this

Could 2017 finally see a restored 4K release of Star Wars: A New Hope, in time for its 40th anniversary? A new clue has surfaced...

"On day one, we were in Lucasfilm in San Francisco with Industrial Light and Magic and John Knowles, our supervisor, he said that they’ve got a brand new 4K restoration print of A New Hope – it had literally just been finished. He suggested we sit and watch it."

http://www.denofgeek.com/us/movies/...2017-re-release

There is hope that one day we might see the Star Wars unaltered Trilogy.

It's surely only a matter of time.

I've got the original theatrical cuts for both ESB and ROTJ.

For ANH I have the Digitally remastered but pre-special edition version.

All on DVD.

But... no blu ray.

And the official DVD releases of the theatrical are in SD... not great quality.

You're right all 3 are not digitally remastered versions. I guess the digitally remastered pre-special editions died on VHS.

it appears that there is little chance of the original 1977 Star Wars being released on any home video format in 2017. sad

We have essentially confirmed that Disney's current 4K scan of the film is the most recent revised version (essentially the latest special edition), not the original theatrical edition.

Doesn't say much. There are still negatives around.

Would be a lovely present from Disney: an original theatrical 4K blu ray disc set with original colour grading... ah... I can only dream.
