Anyone here had enough of the new hate towards "Batman" (1989)?

It's just sooooo trendy nowadays to bash Tim Burton's masterful "Batman" movie like PeterParkerJr here who wants to be trendy in the wake of "Batman Begins".

To be honest, "Batman Begins" bored me and was way too realistic! i prefer the fun comic book feel of "Batman (1989)" and "Batman Returns" which i felt were excellent movies that captured the mood of the comic books, face it! without these movies, we wouldn't have your new franchise.

The first Batman was fine for it's time. We were so worried about the casting of Michael Keaton, but he and the film turned out to be better than expected. Still, it was too much about the Joker, and Batman felt like an outsider in his own film somewhat. Burton showed equal preoccupation with Catwoman & The Penguin in the next one too.

Water under the bridge, because Batman Begins IS the best one of all in tone and story. The films is truly about him and his journey, and Christian Bale is the best man to play him yet.

Its been almost 20 years ago.........let it go. There will be more batman movies 20 years from now.

Tim burton's movie green lit BTAS, the rest was animated history. after that...........End of story

Tim Burton's Batman was great.... PERIOD. Tim Burton's Batman Returns was great.. PERIOD. Chris Nolan has done a wondrous job. The Dark Knight will be the best Batman film ever.

That was pry the first introduction for a lot of people to a serious Batman. I think its a fine movie, still one of the best superhero movies. Return was even better I think. So Im not a 89 Batman basher. Saying that, it still wasnt what the character was about (Origin story, Acting like Bat himself, the role Comish Gordon, ect.). Nolan's Batman is flatout more realistic, gritty, and true to comics. Also it plays in the whole "law" factor that was so overlooked before. The tank stunk, but so did Batman when he first started. Both movies are just perfect for their times Im saying.

I think Tim Burton definitely captured Gotham City at its best. The 1989 & 91 batman films also had the best music. Batman looked the best in 1989. Very dark and bloody scary. The new batman to me looks like a bit of a bad joke (though I trying to keep an open mind). The only prob with the 1989 & 91 Batman films were the stories. Both evolve around the villians, and there isn't enough Batman. I also can't stand James Gordan in those films. Though I dont mind alfred. Overall the 89 and 91 movies have a much much much better look (darker), but the story sucked.

The Batman begins story is much better (except for Ras al Ghul being bruce waynes teacher). Only Batman Begins doesn't have the dark gothic gotham that I love so much. I hate the way batman looks. The 89 suit would leave it for dead. In BB Batman is definitely rougher, but the suit just looks like crap, and so does the city. Its got more of a metropolos feel to it, than gotham. It needs to be darker, more concrete, a lot older looking and a hell of a lot more mist.

A lot of this division splits from this: 1. Whether you want a movie that is inspired by a comic, and moves it to see how it functions in the real world, or 2. Whether you want a literal comic book on the screen, with all the visual touches.
Like the makers behind the X-Men films, Christopher Nolan chose course No. 1 That was fine with me, because the previous films were closer to No.2 The likes of Sin City & 300 are extreme examples of No. 2

I never thought it was trendy to bash it cool

Although others may and will disagree, I think the majority of the populace enjoyed Burton's take on the dark knight. But where ya gonna get proof? stick out tongue

I think the simple fact that Prince was featured in the Batman soundtrack...It's like a joke. Everyone involved in the first Batman flick was in it to make a quick buck...unlike Batman Begins, in which everyone involved wanted to make a batman movie that WASN'T a complete ****ing joke.. The original Batman is dated and not to mention, AWEFUL.

hey hey hey, it was WBs fault that Prince did 89. Burton had total controlon Returns which is one fo the best movies ever made. Catwoman didnt die if you paid attention to the end of the movie. Penguin wascool with just a fewstupdi lines, but Christopher Walken and Michael Keaton did a good job

well said.I could not have said it better myself.Except it wasnt Jack I have always hated.Keaton as batman yes and the fact that he killed people and the joker is what I always hated.Dont know where people get this crazy idea that just because Batman Begins came out, people are just now bashing Batman 89.Loads of people have had hate for that movie for ages, its not new hate.People have been bashing that movie for ages. When that movie FIRST came out,I remember people in my school going around everywhere saying how much they thought that movie sucked and how keaton was horribly miscast in that role, ect.

Man you've stated a mouthful, all of you. Some of you have good points that without hte Burton Batman we'de have no animated series, but come on, those Burton films seemed like something he'd do in film school during college.

the ultra realistic Batman Begins was the fresh breath of air the Batman franchise needed. Batman is suppose to be a boring slightly above average hero, the film made note of that.

Pretty much. There's nothing trendy about hatred to a specific movie that was sparked by a sequel. Keep in mind, Batman Begins may be it's own original incarnation of the Batman franchise, but to everyone, it's still a sequel.

pfft, Burtons movies were brilliant, Begins is under done and it had hectic acting, contradictory scenes, uninspiring setup and performances. Bale was ok but not asgood as Keaton

Oh.something else I should add is I like many other people I knew back in 89 who hated it THEN such as rufus firefly and scythe, also hated it because of how incredibly boring it is.I mean if you want to talk boring, look no further than batman 89.They just stood around and talked practically the whole damn time the first hour in a half with just a few brief actions scenes here and there.thats nuts for batman movie to be made where they are just standing around talking practically the whole film till the very end.You would expect a "BATMAN" movie to have LOTS of action in it.Like batman begins had.Plus I hated the burton films because they were all about the villains with THEM having the majority of the screentime and batman being just a supporting character.thats NUTS for a batman movie.I heard MANY people back then saying-that movie sucked,it should have been called the joker, thats who that movie was mostly all about.

Batman Begins is the kind of batman movie true batman fans deserved to have back in 89 but were cheated out of and robbed from because it erased all those nightmare horrible mistakes batman 89 made.the casting of keaton, batman killing people, the villians being the main star,no action though most the film.Thank god for Nolan. He is a fans director.
