JUSTICE
Part 1

It was winter in Gotham, the coldest in the cities history. Most people would be home now, wrapped in blankets beside fires. Most people’s biggest concern at the moment would be how long to warm their hot drinks. He is not most people, and He had business to take care of.
“Where’s Marroni?”
“You’re crazy man!”
The dark figure picked him up by his throat and slammed him into the brick wall. His name was Alex Johnson a drug dealer working for Marroni but as far as He was concerned just another piece of trash littering the streets of Gotham.
“Where is he?”
He could see it in his eyes, fear; it’s why He put on the mantle of the bat, to strike terror in the hearts of those who would do evil.
“Alright, he’s gonna be at the Gotham Plaza Casino tonight at twelve, now get the hell away from me! ”
After the Batman was done with the lackey he struck him once with enough force to incapacitate him for hours. He was on the trail of Marroni Roman head of the mafia crime family known as “The Roman Empire.” He was close, so close he could almost feel Marroni’s throat around his iron clad grip. He would do anything now to find him, make him beg for his life, and then kill him. He had made a promise to his parents to rid this city of the evil that took their lives. He would do it with justice, he would work with the law not against it, but lately that kind of justice wasn’t good enough, so he had to deliver his own kind of justice.

Alfred, the last person Bruce Wayne could call family was shot six times when he got caught in the crossfire between a couple of Marroni’s men and a rival family as he was passing by the Gotham Plaza Casino. As usual they were able to bribe their way out within an hour and nothing solid could be pinned on them. It was fitting that the place where Alfred was killed would be the place where his murderer would be killed. The Batman went back to the cave to resupply.
The dark, cold, atmosphere strangely gave him comfort. He stared down at the canyon in the cave that no human eye could see the bottom of. He looked into the abyss and it looked back, His soul felt as empty and dark as the chasm. The Batman refilled his utility belt and replaced his Kevlar lined suit. The Casino was in a densely populated part of downtown so, if he wanted to maintain his stealth, he could only take the Batmobile part way there, after that he would have to use the rooftops. Eleven o’clock, almost time. He leaped into the Batmobile, started the engines, and hit the after burners.
The Batman stopped a few blocks from the casino. Using a fire escape he climbed to the top of a nearby building. From his utility belt he removed his grappler and fired it at a building that was a few places down, hooking one of the many stone gargoyles that stood watch over the city. He then leaped off the side of the building and flew through the air, his now fully unfurled cape giving him the silhouette of a gigantic bat gliding around Gotham city.
As he circled around the building that he had hooked the other buildings beneath him became a blur and he focused on the one he would be landing on. This building was close to the one he had hooked and slightly lower. As he approached, he detached his grappling hook and retracted it. He let his momentum carry him and seconds before landing he grabbed the steel bars that lined the top of the inside if his cape. These two bars on either side of his cape attached to steel “fingers” that ran down to the bottom of the cape, much like the skeletal structure of an actual bat. This caused the cape to act as a parachute that allowed him to glide down for a silent landing. He did this two more times before reaching the casino’s rooftop. As he expected a few of Marroni’s men were out in front of the casino. He spotted an isolated guard who had just stepped around a corner and into an alley. He swooped down to him.
“IT’S THE…”
One of Marroni’s men was struck before he could warn anyone then thrown into a dumpster unconscious. His trench coat would conceal the Batman.

The casino floor was a massive hall with hundreds of people gambling on roulette wheels, black jack, slot machines, craps, and poker. Waitresses walked around serving free drinks to the gamblers who were to busy throwing away money to drink. A row of massive crystal chandeliers lit the casino. The noise of falling coins, laughter, and casual conversation filled the air. Everyone was so preoccupied that the people who did never even noticed that they had just walked by a person who they all had heard of but none of them thought was real.
Most of Marroni’s men in the casino were either gambling or drinking, they obviously thought that nothing big was going to happen tonight. They were wrong.
The Batman eventually spotted him through the crowd, Marroni, the scum who caused Alfred to be killed. He causally walked past all Marroni’s bodyguards without having being stopped once. He was just about to get his hands on Marroni when suddenly a blinding light filled his vision and a powerful force knocked him onto his back. Smoke filled the air, an explosion, but from where, then he saw where the explosion came from. It was HIM.
“HAHAHA!”
It was the JOKER.
“Joker,” yelled the Batman.
“Bats, I’m glad you’re here, I was just about to murder some innocent Gothamites to get your attention, HAHAHA, but it looks like you’re already here.”
“Sorry to disappoint you,”
“Don’t be I can still have some fun”
The deafening rattle of machine gunfire, and two people were riddled with bullets. More gunfire, another two lying in a pool of blood, another four to be added to the list of hundreds of lives he has taken, the last he would ever be able take.
“You maniac!!!”
The Batman jumped into the air, his fists making contact on the madman’s face sending him reeling back dropping his weapon. Two of Joker’s men attacked from behind. The Batman turned around and rolled to the right to dodge them, then swung his left leg and connected with one of the guys in the stomach, and then came around with his right fist and punched him in the face knocking him out. The other one to the right tried to kick Batman but he blocked with his right arm and elbowed the man in the gut with his left elbow then struck him in the chin, finally the Batman knocked down the man with a punch in the face that sent blood spraying from his nose. He then rose up to take on the Joker, but the Joker had disappeared.
“Did you miss me bats HAHAHA?”
As he turned around, the Joker slammed a roulette wheel into the side of his face. Everything became blurry, but the Batman wouldn’t let that stop him, he had to kill Marroni and he knew the only way to do it was to get the Joker out of the way. He gathered all his will power, pulled back his fist and punched the Joker with all his strength. The Joker flew back ten feet and slammed through a craps table and hit the floor sending chips and dice through the air. The Batman leaped on top of him striking his face over and over until blood and teeth went flying.
“All right Bats you win, I give up, take me in,” said the Joker barely managing to speak through his now bloody and nearly toothless mouth.
“Who said anything about taking you in, Joker?”
“I’m so scared,” he chuckled then coughed.
The faces of all the innocent people the Joker had killed flash before the eyes of the Batman; he remembered feeling the same helplessness he felt that night. The night when the world stopped making sense, the night when all he had cared about was taken from him. He remembered the look in his parents’ eyes just before they were shot. He remembered his parents, and the promise he made, and the rest was easy.
The Batman squeezed the Joker’s throat, he tried to fight back, he kicked, punched, and spat in the face of his strangler, but it was of no use. Suddenly, a dozen police officers burst through the doors into the casino expecting to have a firefight. Instead, what they found was an empty casino with a bloodied Joker laughing hysterically on the floor.

*claps*

I was wondering when someone would venture towards the super hero writing rather than the sword-wielding, blaster-slinging, and martial arts shorties...

JUSTICE
Part 2

By the time the Batman was interrupted by the police the casino was empty; everyone had fled, including Marroni. He had to get back on his trail; he vowed that nothing would stop him, nothing.
He stepped out to the back of the casino where Marroni’s car had been. He would need his infrared goggles to see the cars fresh tracks. He pressed the left side of his mask where he knew the button was, the visor slid in front of his eyeholes. He could see the bright glowing tracks where Marroni’s car had burned rubber; he had left in a hurry.
The Batman made his way to the Batmobile using the rooftops. When he reached the building that was next to the Batmobile he plunged off of the roof and landed in the seat. The car, sensing his arrival activated itself. He hit the gas, and exploded out of the alley reaching 150 M.P.H. within 5 seconds. He switched the windshield to infrared mode. He would be behind Marroni in a few minutes.

A trail of fire blew out from behind the Batmobile accelerating it forward at an extreme speed; the Batman had finally caught up to Marroni. He was right in behind of him.
“Rocket launcher,” commanded the Batman. He aimed for his target and had it centered, “Fire!”
A bright flash filled his entire view, the air itself shook from the blast, and an intense searing inferno engulfed the immediate area. He swerved the car around the fire and stopped across the street. Leaving the car he went over to the ruble.
“WHAT” shouted the Batman?
Marroni wasn’t in the car. Instead, one of his bodyguards was lying there severely burned. “You’re only delaying the inevitable Marroni!” he yelled. He would hunt him down even if it took the rest of his life.
As he turned around he heard his approach, had heard him several minutes ago actually. The dark figure came at the Batman through the air, legs extended, but before he could make contact the Batman dodged and the other person flew past him. In one liquid motion he landed on his feet, spun around, and stood up to meet the Batman face on.
“What do you think you’re doing NightWing?” asked the Batman, slightly annoyed at this inconvenience.
“I can’t let you do this Bruce, you’ve lost your mind. Do you know how many people could have been injured from that explosion? I know what he did but you can’t put more people in danger and you can’t kill Marroni it’s against everything you are!”
“And how are you planning on stopping me,” asked the Batman.
NightWing swung his right leg at the Batman but he caught it and twisted it. NightWing spun with the twist and fell to the ground deliberately in order to prevent his ankle from being broken and to have an opportunity to counterattack. Just like the Batman knew he would, the way he had taught him.
This was the Batman’s opening. He flipped forward before NightWing could react and landed heels first on his chest causing him to cough up blood. NightWing managed to strike the side of the Batman’s knee knocking him off balance and sending him to the ground. The Batman quickly recovered and got up but was met with a kick in his face. He counterattacked with a punch in NightWing’s abdomen and a kick in his side causing a hairline fracture in two of his ribs.
NightWing swung his right fist so the Batman dodged to the left grabbed his forearm, twisted it, and with calculated force struck NightWing’s elbow joint. NightWing’s right arm was now broken.
The Batman started to pummel NightWing’s stomach with a series of left and right blows then a final blow with his knee. NightWing collapsed on to his back covered in blood and coughing up more. The Batman hesitated for a moment and decided to spare him. He then got back into the Batmobile and headed back to the cave to plan his next move.

“I want you to stay away from him Robin he’s really lost it just look at what he did to me, he almost killed me and now I’ll be stuck in the hospital for weeks!”
“No way Batman meant to kill you he was just extremely upset. I admit what he did was pretty bad but can you blame him after what happened? ”
“You weren’t there Robin and you didn’t see the look he had in his eyes, he really wanted to kill me.”
“You’re wrong. I trust Bruce with my life and I can’t believe that he would really kill someone, not even the guy who killed Alfred. I’m going back to the cave anyway so I’m going to go and see him for myself. I still think you’re wrong but thanks for the warning.”
“Alright it’s your funeral kid just don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Tim left Dick in his hospital room to see for himself if Bruce really had lost his mind. Deep down Tim believed that Bruce could never do anything like what Dick said, but it still worried him.

Traveling through Gotham meant traffic jams and road rage, but the way Tim traveled meant one hundred foot drops and midair collisions with pigeons. It was the kind of thrill that he loved and couldn’t get from anywhere else. One of the major reasons he wanted to be Robin.
From the rooftops he could see everything, and to him the world seemed to make more sense from up here.
Tim landed on one of Wayne Industries buildings, one of the tallest in the city. As he stood there watching the people below and the cars flow by he thought about NightWing and Batman the previous “Dynamic Duo”. He wondered why Dick had decided to go on by himself. He’d tried for a long time to get it out of both of them but finally gave up. Guess whatever the reason was it’s in the past now and neither of them like thinking about their pasts, thought Tim.
“Well that’s enough thinking for one day; time to get going.” He jumped off the side of the building and using his cape to slow himself down he landed on his motorcycle starting it with the force of his landing. He roared out of the alley and into the street weaving through cars, around corners, and underneath trucks. With the honks of angry motorists fading into the distance and his adrenaline pumping through his body Tim yelled out into the night out of pure exhilaration.

JUSTICE
Part3

Garret knew he was a physically impressive person, being 6 foot 9 and very well built, and even before dropping out of high school he knew he wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. That’s why he decided to use his natural talents to help people like his boss, Mr. Roman, maintain control over certain areas of his business. Even though Garret knew he wasn’t paid to think, he couldn’t help thinking that maybe what Mr. Roman had planned wasn’t such a good idea, but he was too busy guarding the entrance to Mr. Roman’s room to think too much about it.

The wallpaper was peeling in places and was covered with crawling insects. The stench of urine and rotting garbage saturated the air. Occasionally a rat would scurry across the floor of the narrow and dimly lit hall. The ceiling, which at one point was white, was brown and seeping a dark liquid that steadily dripped on to the floor. At the end of the hall in front of a door stood a man who could easily deter most people from entering the door behind him, most people.

Last night was a mistake that would not be made again. Tonight would be the night that no mistakes were going to be made. Tonight was the night Justice would be served. The Dark Knight moved silently through the dark and grungy corridor towards the guard in front of Marroni’s room.
He burst forth from within the shadows with his cape spread to its full span and looked as if he himself was a shadow that had come to life. With out a sound and before the man could react the Batman wrapped his cape around the guard grabbed his neck, and held him until he fell unconscious and dropped the body on the ground. Using his thermal goggles he could see there was no one in the room, so he slowly entered.
The large room was a stark contrast to the outside hall; it had dark wood crown molding and the same paneling that he recognized from the walls in Wayne Manor. It was also a sparsely furnished room. Bookshelves lined the walls and in the back of the room was a large desk cluttered with papers and a single desk lamp, which was the only light on in the room setting an ominous atmosphere.
Behind the desk stood a high leather chair, and two smaller leather seats in front of it. Near the entrance where he was there were two large leather sofas on either side of the door. In the corner of the room there was a large door that looked as if it had been installed after the room was built.
As the Batman approached it the knob started to turn and the door was beginning open. Before it did the Batman ducked behind the sofa on his right. Several men rushed in to investigate the noise they had heard earlier. With his back to the sofa the Batman took a quick glance and counted seven men, two with AK’s, and the other five with pistols.
The two with the rifles started to approach the sofa the Batman was behind. Because of the shadow cast by the sofa the men could not see him even when right next to him, at the right moment he leaped from behind the sofa on the right to behind the one on the left, grabbing the two men and tackling them both to the ground. As soon as he hit the ground he slammed the heads of both the men on to the floor causing them to black out. The other five men started to shoot at the couch he was behind so, using the shadows to his advantage, he approached the large wooden desk unseen.

Joey never wanted to join the gang but had no other choice. After all he had lost his job, and his wife was expecting a baby so he had to make money and it didn’t matter if it was legal. He never thought that what the other guys talked about was real; he thought they were just trying to scare him. But the shadow that he saw take down two of the other guys was definitely not an urban legend but a real monster, a demon, the Batman, and now he had to try and kill it.
Joey and the others moved to behind the sofa where they thought it went, but were dumbfounded to find nothing there but the bodies of two of their own men full of bullet wounds. With out warning a strand of wire wrapped around the throat of Joey’s only friend in the gang and he was dragged into the shadows where his screams abruptly stopped. The remaining four of them started to fire into the darkness, desperate, hoping that they would be able to shoot and kill the Batman, if it could be killed.
