Devil Never Cry

The Job

Dante lay sat back in the chair in his office. His feet resting on the table by the phone. He was half asleep, awake enough to snap into action should the need arise and asleep enough to relax. He looked over at the wall that Trish, the clone of his mother Eva, had broken through on that moterbike those seven months before. She was away on some job, although they were partners he had assumed it must be something personal since she hadn't told him where she was going. Along the walls lay skulls of demons that he had defeated in the past, all with knives and swords through them. His new sword, which he called Rebellion lay where the Force Edge had once lain. The Force Edge had transformed into a weapon that he had called Sparda, after his father, he had given this to Trish. The ever present rock music was just background noise to him now. The phone rang.
Snapping to attention in a second Dante shoved his feet off the table and onto the floor, leaning forwards and picking up the phone as he did so.
"Devil Never Cry" He had changed the name of the agency after the incident with Trish. "$1 Million!? No sorry I don't do that sort of thing" He didn't dabble in ordinary affairs, he only accepted supernatural ones, no matter how much cash was in it. He put the phone down.
Almost as soon as he put the phone down it rang again. "Devil Never Cry...I see...I'll be there in ten minutes tops...."
Dante almost leapt from his seat, he grabbed the Rebellion off the wall, revealing the posters two stars where her nipples would have been. On his way out he grabbed his deep scarlet-red trenchcoat swung it round, and undid his belt. In one swift, fast motion he threw the trenchcoat on, stuck his arms through the sleeves, and fastened the belt which held his two pistols, Ebony and Ivory, around himself on the outside of the trenchcoat. He then walked to the door fastening up the coat and putting the sword on his back.
As he opened the door he was attacked by two creatures he had never seen before. They were a dark cream colour, and slouched over like apes. Their hands held small knives, about 5 inches long. The creature on his left leapt at him. Dante ducked and rolled, out of the doorway and flipping over the other creature. As he did so he pulled his black pistol, Ebony, and his white pistol, Ivory out of their holsters at his side. He landed on his back and released a volley of bullets at the closest creature. The creature flew backwards next to the doorway, where the other creature stood. The dead creature turned to dust and disappeared into a little pile on the floor. The surviving creature threw his knife at Dante, it hit his hard in his left sholder. Dante didn't flinch or anything. He just released another volley of bullets onto this creature as well, dusting it.
Dante stood up and pulled the knife out, he walked over to the door and threw it inside at the skull that was similar to a rams head. He then closed the door and locked it. Dante walked over to his red moterbike, and drove off. He had only been delayed slightly.

Up on top of Devil Never Cry stood a woman, enveloped in darkness. She had watched the whole thing.
"Very good...I would expect no less from the son of Sparda."
With that she disappeared into the darkness.

An Unholy Church

What were those creatures...
Dante had never seen anything like them before. They looked similar to the "Nobodies" that he had fought at Mallet Island. Their skin was the same dark cream colour. They used knives which was a thing that the Nobodies didn't use. They used their bare hands and exploded when killed. Yet these had just turned to dust. His mind continued to ponder over the demons as he rode to the destination. A church just on the outskirts of town. Apparently there were some demons taking residence there. It wasn't a big job, but he didn't care. As long as there was Demons to be taken care of he'ld be there.

He arrived, with five minutes to spare. Slowly he reached his left hand down and slipped his fingers around Ebony. He walked slowly up the stairs to the large church door and looked around. The streets were deserted. Slowly Dante pushed the door open. It gave a large creaking sound, and then fell off its hinges. This place looked, and felt like it hadn't had a visitor for months, years maybe. How did someone call him from this deserted place?
Looking around it seemed even worse off. Behind the alter was a large stone statue of a crusified Jesus. "Irony has favored you this time. Look there." Mundus had said seven months before. He had been indicatting Trish who was crusified above the Temples enterance.
Dante remembered. Pews were scattered around the place, and the upstairs balcony had collapsed slightly, leaving only a rubble staircase up to it.
Slowly and cautiously Dante moved forwards, now moving his right had down to Ivory. He eyed the church suspiciously, blowing some of his white hair out of his eyes. There was only silence.
No wait. There was something, a creak of a floorboard on the destroyed balcony. Dante spun and drew his pistols, aiming at the spot of the noise. Nothing...
Slowly and keeping his ears and eyes peeled Dante lowered his two pistols. A hoax. It hadn't been the first time. It had happened before, but only rarely. There was nothing here. Dante head back to the door.
A clatter of metal came from behind him. Spinning and drawing his pistols Dante turned to face the noise. Two more of those creatures stood atop the alter. Dante had enough time to get a good look this time. Their faces were just two small holes for nostrals and a single gaping eye in the middle of their face. He hadn't had enough time to get a good look before, everything had happened so fast.
They both threw their knives, Dante shot them away from him and turned his attention to the two Creatures. Dusting them in seconds.
"Too easy..." He said smiling cockishly.

The woman once again stood above watching. Now she stood atop the rafters of the church. This one was good alright, maybe even good enough to life the curse. She'ld see. She jumped down behind Dante.

Dante turned to see the woman, raising his guns as he did so. The woman kicked them away, accross the Church floor. She tried to do a roundhouse to his face. Dante caught it mid kick. He took a look at his attacker. She was relitlvely tall, about 5'8". She had long black hair, darker than the darkest of nights. Her eyes were the colour of emeralds, she wore a dark green leather coat and black leather trousers. Underneath her coat was a black vest.
"Hmmmmm...Human?" Dante asked.
"Not exactly" The woman replied, her foot went straight through his hand and she hit him square on with a palm strike. Dante flew backwards, somersaulted in the air and landed on his feet grinning.
"So you're a ghost...I've met your kind before, yet there's something different about you..." Ghosts could touch anything, providing they had enough will for it. They could also only be seen while they had enough ectoplasm. Yet Dante didn't feel that this woman was just a ghost, she seemed more "alive" than most ghosts.
The woman stopped, "You're almost right...I am neither...ghosts are trapped between the living and the dead. Yet I am alive. I called you to see if you were worthy enough, to see if you're strong enough to save me and my people. Come with me to the island on Atlas, and I shall show you all."

Dante couldn't refuse a request from a pretty lady. He followed her outside and got on his bike. This seemed interesting.

It sounds good. one thing though, I think it would be alot more interesting if you wrote it from 1st person. Try being dante, it would be alot more gripping. "I spun around pistols in hands, and saw two creaters" bla bla bla

Boat trip to Hell

Dante had to leave his bike at the harbor. Him and the woman had got on a small row boat, she had insisted on it and she was the one rowing.
"About two years ago a strange man came to Atlas, he promised us all wealth and glory, fortune and fame, the usual things to get anyones attention, if we helped him to build a castle on top of the mountain Tartarus. Obviously we all agreed. Once the castle was built, something happened on Atlas. Days seemed to turn into an eternal darkness, a smoggy-mist seemed to fill the air, and people started disappearing, then reappearing, as if they were fading away. No-one could escape what was happening, not men, women, nor children. People began to lose substance. Six months ago, if you had visited the island you would have seen an island of ghosts, of the dead. But now some of us have begun to control it. We can switch between human and ghost at will. But of those who have learnt this I am the only one still alive. People have gone to consult Mors, the man of the castle, about it and have never returned. That is when I came to look for you, Dante. I The people of Atlas and I need your help, if not to return to human than at least to have our island back. You're the only one who can..."
Dante smiled, "OK...it sounds like fun. ..but I don't even know your name..."
"Proditor, Jane Proditor."
They arrived at the island. The mist seemed to be drawn upwards and inwards, in a spiral towards the centre of the island, to the mountain. Lightning struck. A smell worse than death filled the air. Dante turned to look at Jane and found her gone, he'ld have to head for the castle alone.

Ghost Town

Dante had walked along a path that had been by the docks for roughly five minutes, he had come to a village. It seemed deserted, but if what Jane had said was true it was far from it. An aisle of houses lay either side of the path on which he stood. The shutters on the windows swung back and forth slowly in the wing creating a banging sound every few seconds. On the floor Dante could see the footprints of a woman, yet no others.
Away in the distance Dante could hear a wolf calling. A little closer to him he heard a scuffeling sound, as if someone or something was draging something heavy along the ground. Again the shutters banged.
The scuffling sound seemed to be coming from everywhere now, surrounding Dante. Dante slowly walked forwards raising his hand up to his sword. He turned every now and then, giving himself a 360 degree view of the area. He then turned back and cross steped slowly forwards. He knew he wasn't alone. The shutters banged once again.
Through the fog Dante could only see a few metres in front of him. The scuffling noise seemed to be getting closer, and yet Dante still couldn't see anything. Once more the shutters banged.
Dante slowly pulled the Rebelian off his back and got ready for whatever was out there. He cross-steped forwards a bit more and waited...nothing...the noise had stopped. Not just the scuffling noise, but also the shutters. The fog seemed to be clearing a bit, and Dante only saw the path continuing on in front of him. Slowly he looked behind him, nothing, just a path and no village.
Slowly Dante turned his head forwards again before leaping to his left to avoid a giant blade. The blade dug into the ground where Dante had been stood a moment before.
"Leave............" The creatures voice was deep and seemed to come from everywhere.
"Or what? You'll chop me up?" Dante reached out with his left hand and beconed the creature, "Just try it"
The creature pulled its blade out of the ground and stood up straight. It was huge, at least seven foot tall. Its body was flesh coloured and covered with scars, many looked self-inflicted. It wore a once white robe around its lower torso, the robe was now covered in mud and blood, which Dante guessed wasn't all the creatures. Its mouth was sewn together with a thick black thread and its eyes were as black as the night sky, black and so deep they cryed out for death. Its hair was a dirty blonde and it went down to its waist. It had no ears, and just two nostrils for a nose. Both its hands gripped the mighty blade which lay with the end of the blade touching the floor.
Dante looked at it from its feet up to its head. He smiled, "And here I was thinking this was going to be boring"

Entering the Bowels of Hell

Dante blocked the creature, known as Merth, from a downwards slice. Merth was strong, and his blade heavy, it took all of Dantes strength to parry the blow away from him. He kicked Merth backwards and swund diagonally. Merth managed to step back just in time, he was slow while using the blade but without it he would be just as fast as Dante.
The two warriors battled with Dante pushing Meth backwards, towards a cliff face and stopping him from getting any blows in. Dante swung again slicing Merth accross the gut, blood splattered on his robe. But the wound didn't stay, it healed into a scar in a manner of seconds. Merth took the chance to slash at Dante horizontally. Dante was quick to react, he had been distracted by Merth healing. Dantes sword hit Merths giant blade. Merth had put all of his strength into the blow. Dantes sword flew from his hand and hit the floor.
Merth took the oppertunty to lunge at Dante, the blade went straight through Dantes chest. Merth withdrew his blade and turned away, towards the cliff face, he looked up at the castle perced atop it. "I have won master, another "Hero" defeated." Dante grabbed his chest in agony.
A dark red glow seemed to surround Dantes body, pushing the mist away. The same red colour seemed to form an electricity around him, that shot into the floor and the mist. His hair stood up on end and his body began to darken into a coal grey colour. A red and white glow outlined his muscles. The electricity shot around him and then went into him. Dantes eyes whitened and horns seemed to appear where his ears had been. His trenchcoat and clothes seemed to be sucked into the Coal coloured flesh. Two wings grew on his back and spread themselves. Dante looked at himself, his demon self. A smile filled his face.
Merth turned to face the Demon Dante. "No" A deep red glow appeared in Dantes hand, creating a ball of pure energy. Dante threw it at Merth. Merth couldn't avoid the blast, it hit him square on and threw him into the cliff. A hole appeared where Merth hit the wall and a room could be seen beyond.
Dante powered down and picked up his sword. He headed for the hole Merth had made and jumped inside, looking around he could see Merth had disappeared, most likely summonded by his master, the one known as Mors. Dante looked around, he was at the lowest point of the castles basements. He was in the torture chamber. He was in the bowels of Hell.

A World Built On Pain

The torture chamber seemed to fully contridict everything that Jane had told him about the castle. It seemed more like it had been around for hundreds of years rather than just a couple. Cobwebs filled the corners of the room. A stale air roamed around. A rack lay directly in the centre, it's leather restraints old and worn. Various torture implements lay on a table next to the rack, some stained with dry blood. A sarcoficus lay slightly open against one of the walls, inside were spikes, if someone was inside when the door was closed they wouldn't last long. Along the oppisite wall were chains, presumebly there for torturers to chain others and let them watch what fate awaited them.
Opposite from the "Door" that Dante had made was a steel door, rusted beyond belief. As Dante touched it, his left hand on Ebony, it fell to the floor, throwing dust in all directions and creating an Earth-shattering bang. Dante took a step back and peered through the open door. All he could see were some stairs, leading into a darkness that even the brightest of lights couldn't penetrate. Dante slowly walked forwards, up the stairs.
The darkness seemed to surround him, opening up infront and then closing as he walked forwards. He kept his left hand ready to pull out Ebony and held his right hand out in front of him, as a blind man without a stick does to try and see. Before long his fingers wrapped around a cold metal handle, that of a door. Dante opened it and looked inside, a prison by the looks of things. The bars were rusted too and some of the doors were laid on the floor. Upon looking into one of the cells Dante saw a matress, stained with blood that he could tell wasn't human. A small hole in the floor, for use as a toilet. No-one would have escaped down there, it was too small for even a persons head to fit into, let alone their whole body. On the dusty floor there were marks of footprints, of a guard that never slept, and blood, of a prisoner that had been dragged back from their torture.
Dante walked forwards, further into the almost complete darkness, the cells didn't change in appearance. Eventually Dante reached another door, looking through it he saw more stairs, spirelling upwards into the main castle. There was no other option but to head up them.

Betrayal

The stairs went up, seemingly neverending. Dante was starting to get bored of this, where was the action in walking up stairs? His left hand stedyed himself on the inside wall. The brickwork seemed old, holes were left in the cement where spiders, or worse, had crawled out of and knocked it away.
Everything that Jane had said about the castle seemed to have been wrong. It looked, felt and smelt like it had been around for at least a century, not a couple of years. As Dante thought of this another thought hit him. Where was Jane? Where had she gone after the boat trip? Dante didn't know. Although he was a Legendary Dark Knight, just like his father, he would never understand women. He sighed, looking upwards and wandering whether these stairs would ever reach an end.
Dante's wish was soon granted. A door appeared out of the darkness around the final steps. Beyond it was a red carpet, on a marble floor. A suit of armour stood each side of the carpet, each holding a spear. Dante walked slowly through the doorway, looking around for any threats. Any human would have been dead, metaphorically speacking, from the steps. Dante didn't completely trust the two suits of armour. At the end of the corridor Dante could make out a balcony. No doors elsewhere, nothing but a balcony.
Dante walked forwards towards the balcony, in complete disbelief. He reached the balcony and looked down, he could make out a town of somesort, he was on the other side of the island from the way he had come. Looking upwards he saw another balcony, up and to the right. Hearing a clank of metal Dante looked back into the room. He ducked just in time to avoid the swipe of one of the suits spears. They had silently snuck up on him. Dante side-kicked the suit back into the room and pulled out Ebony and Ivory. He shot around fifty bullets at each suit, the bullets enchanted to never run out. All of them hit, but none did any damage. Dante holstered his two most faithful companions and reached for the Rebellion. As he pulled it out he blocked another slash from the first suit, then one from the second. He slashed in one complete sweep, hitting both the suits where the waist would have been. The whole of the suits top half seemed to jump up, avoiding the slash. In that brief moment that they were seperated from their legs Dante saw a strange pinkish-red putty inside of them. He swung again, distracting them long enough for him to jump up onto the other balcony.
"This isn't over!" He yelled down at them.
As he turned his sword has kicked out of his hands and over the balcony. It fell down towards the village below. As Dante looked at his attacker he was hit was a dart from a crossbow.
"Sleep tight" The person sneered, "Son of Sparda."
Dante recognised the face and the voice...it was Jane.

"Everything is a false hope"

It wasn't the first time he had been betrayed, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. Trish had betrayed him seven months ago. Shocking him while he was fighting the 'thing' known as Nightmare. That was before she had sacrificed her life for his, before his tears had bought her back to life.
Dante was cold, he realised that he was lying atop a stone alter of sorts. He heard Janes footsteps behind him. Raising his head to look at himself he saw that he had been robbed of his waistcoat, trenchcoat and pistols.
A smile crept to his lips, "I never would have guessed you were into this sort of thing" he joked.
He tried to raise his hands to get a look at what was holding them down, it was a steel handcuff, they were attatched to his legs as well.
"Joking right down to the end I see, I figured as much." Jane replied, not the least bit amused.
She walked over to the alter. Dante turned his head to see her walking along the floor, or from his view the roof. The floor was covered in glyphs of some sort. In her hand was a short knife, it too covered in glyphs. It took Dante less than two seconds to realise that he was to be the sacrifice for some spell.
"How much of what you told me was true?" He asked.
"About half of it. There was a village full of people. And people can turn between substance and 'ghostish' at will. Although that is only me and my husband. However, he abused his powers and has lost all existince in this world. That is why there were no people in the village. I used them as sacrifices to bring him back. Yet I failed, I could only bring him back for a matter of days. The thing that's been missing is the blood of a demon. I tried your father, but he killed all of my minions. He almost got me too before I lost my substance for a short period of time, allowing him to escape. That is why I lied to you about the age of this place. Would you really have come if you knew that the occurences had been going on in your fathers time? This is the only thing that is left for me to try. I've tried everything else, but all of it...everything...is a false hope.....I have lived for centuries....and nothing has bought back my beloved Mors..........there is one more thing to try.....It's time....son of Sparda."
She raised the knife over her head and looked at Dante, smiling. Dante moved with such strength and speed it caught her completely off guard. His hand broke through the chain on the handcuffs and flew straight to her neck. "Not yet it's not..."

Excalaber

Dante leapt into action, tearing off the remaining restraints as he did so. His foot swung, hitting Jane square on in the jaw, disorientating her slightly. Dante then followed up by hopping off the table and grabbing Jane’s wrist, he swung her around and let her go. Jane flew backwards into the alter, the dagger in her hand slipped out of her grasp and onto the alter, blade out. Dante grabbed her by the collar and pulled her towards him then slammed her back into the alter. Jane let out a gasp of pain as the dagger dug through her back. Dante hadn’t meant to kill her, he only meant to disorientate her enough to keep her solid. Blood trickled down the alter and onto the glyphs on the floor. The glyphs all began to light up as more and more blood dripped down. The whole room began to shake and Jane slowly looked up at Dante. She opened her mouth and said with her last breath “You’re…too…late……he’s…here……………”
Dante ran to the edge of the room and grabbed his trench coat and guns, he threw them on and rushed towards the only visible door. He didn’t have time to grab his waistcoat, or to ask Jane anything. He knew he had to get out of the room. No sooner had he left than a large rock fell from the ceiling on top of the door.
Dante was now in a large corridor, like the ones he had been in before. The walls were made of stone and there was a red carpet on the floor. On the walls were various weapons, and down the corridor Dante saw more of the armoured knights further down the corridor, shuffling slowly towards him. He ran to the wall and grabbed the closest sword. It’s blade seemed to reflect all the available light away. It’s hilt was made of solid gold, with a ring at the very end. It was light and seemed to mould itself to Dante’s movements. Dante felt a great energy, greater than that of Sparda’s flowing through him. He looked back down the corridor past the guards and saw a door, his destination. He charged down the corridor. This blade was stronger and lighter, therefore faster, than the Rebellion. It cut the suits of armour in half easily, from the dead suit’s a rotted skin coloured worm-like creature emerged, crawled forwards a bit, and then died. Dante finished off the rest of the knights and ran towards the door, shoulder barging it down.
Inside was a library, there was a book on the desk in front of Dante. Dante walked up to it and read:
In order to silence the silent,
You must first let it take a breath of air,
Only then can you truly quieten it,
And open up the passage to your destiny

He didn’t quite understand what it meant, but he walked up to the only other exit from the library. Slowly he turned the handle, and saw a blade of metal fly towards his head.

Silence to the silent

Dante lent backwards, the blade passing just centimetres away from him. Once the blade had past he swung his new sword in an upwards arc, which his opponent blocked. Dante’s eyes met that of his opponents and he knew them immediately, they were Merth’s. Dante slammed his left shoulder into Merth’s chest, sending him backwards into the next room. Merth slowly stood up, his voice once again appeared from everywhere but him.
“You shall not pass. He is not ready”
Merth charged once more at Dante who hopped nimbly out of the way. From his new position Dante got a look at the room. It was the same as all the others in the damned castle, excapt for the doorway. The doorway was the same, except it was covered in a wall of souls.
Merth swung at Dante again, Dante merely shoved the blade aside, he noticed that Merth was bruised more than before in his gut. Exactly where Dante’s demon form had shot him. Merth’s actions were slower than before and he seemed to be getting weaker. Dante raised Ebony and shot Merth with what would have been for a normal pistol two magazines. They sunk deep into Merth, but then immediately healed up. The words from the book that Dante had been reading suddenly hit Dante, making sense. He ducked another swing and this time bought his blade up to Merth’s mouth. He cut the shring holding Merth’s mouth shut and leapt back. Merth grabbed his mouth and looked at Dante, his sword slipping from his hands and going up to his mouth. The look on his face spoke his desire before he had even said it.
“You have bested me. And now I must ask you to end this……your path awaits you, you must finish me to proceed…” his voice wasn’t anything like that that Dante had heard before, it seemed almost child-like. Something which sounded creepy coming from someone with such an appearance.
Dante didn’t even stop to think, he knew what he had to do. He bought his blade down, destroying the creature known as Merth and the wall of souls. He looked up at the doorway and walked towards it, flinging his sword over his shoulder like it was nothing. His eyes looked up into the darkness and he took a step into it.

Keeper of the castle

The darkness beyond the door seemed to transport him. Slightly disorientated he looked around. Dante was on the castle’s roof. A dark mist seemed to be flying about. Looking about Dante saw that the moon was full in the sky, although it was partly hidden by the dark clouds. A voice came from the mist, “YOU! YOU ARE DANTE! YOU ARE THE ONE WHO HAS KILLED MY SUBJECTS! YOU ARE THE SON OF SPARDA!!?”
Dante looked at the mist, his hand tightening on the sword. “That’s right,” Dante smiled, “Although I wouldn’t be too worried that I could single handily take them all out. After all they were all very weak. I expected a challenge! NOW COME AND GIVE ME ONE!”
The mist flew down to the floor and changed into a human figure. It charged at Dante, who rolled to the side to avoid it. “Come on. Is that all you’ve got?”
The mist figure, Mors, charged again. Dante leapt up high in the sky and flipped so he was upside down. He grabbed Ivory and shot a rain of bullets down on Mors. The recoil from the shots kept him in the air for longer than a normal gun would have been able to do.
As soon as Dante landed he charged Mors, who did a back flip. Mors’ foot connected with Dante’s chin, dazing him for a second. Dante then let loose with his five slash combo. He slashed horizontally left and right, then a vertical slice down and up, the final blow in the combo was a diagonal slash bought down with tremendous power. Mors avoided the first two, then the next one, but the fourth blow sliced his shoulder. Mors managed to hop back so the final slice only cut across his chest, instead of his whole body.
Mors clutched his chest and looked up at Dante, “That sword…” He leapt at Dante, taking him by surprise and knocked the sword out of his hand. The sword embedded itself in the castle’s roof.
“Yeah, let’s finish this like men.” Dante said, transforming to his demon form. He charged at Mors again.

Leap of Faith

Dante’s punches all connected, there was a red glow about his demon form. He was stronger and more pumped up than he had ever been before.
Mors was holding his own though. His punches, what few he could get in, also connected. He was more interested in reading Dante’s moves to find a weak point. He soon found it.
As Dante swung for a punch Mors ducked. He then swung his foot round and up towards Dante’s knees. Dante jumped and shot a few balls of energy from his hand. Mors looked on in terror, frozen, as they flew towards him. They connected and sent him towards the sword.
Mors lay, defeated on the floor. Dante landed and changed back to his human form, a smile on his face. “I was told you were powerful. Although I don’t know what compared to…” He walked slowly and confidently towards Mors.
Mors looked on, his hands reaching for something to support himself on. He managed to find something, the sword hilt. Yet on contact with it, it didn’t help him it destroyed him. A bright light emitted from it. It engulfed Mors and sucked him inside the blade. “NO! IT CAN’T BE, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” He disappeared into the sword. Dante looked on amazed.

Mors’ disappearance from the world caused a shockwave. The burst of light from the sword had disrupted the castle. It was beginning to fall apart. The whole castle began to shake. Dante looked around uneasily for a way to escape. There was only one way off the roof, a leap of faith from the side. He ran towards it, ready to jump. Yet the floor at the edge of the castle gave way. Blocks of stone fell, taking Dante along with them.
As Dante fell, more of the creatures, the ones that had started all of this jumped down after him. Dante’s hands reached for his twin pistols and he shot them out of the sky. Looking down he saw the floor coming towards him fast. He flipped and landed, looking up he saw his sword, the Rebellion.

Meanwhile, deep within the castle, in a cell in the basement a young sailor awoke. He had been shipwrecked on the island just before Dante had arrived. Merth had captured him and was using him as a toy to torture. The sailor looked around as the walls began to fall around him, some stones had slipped out of place, allowing him an exit. He ran through it and towards a staircase hoping it was a way out.

Final Run

Dante grabbed his sword and ran, he knew where he was. The hole where he had entered the castle was just behind him. He ran down the hill. Creatures moved about in the trees and behind him on the path. He swung his sword on his back, into it’s home in the sheath on his back. He reached down again and found his two best friends, the only two he could ever trust with his life, Ebony and Ivory. He whipped them out of their holsters and outstretched his arms, taking out creatures in the trees either side of him. Knives that the creatures threw came down on the path just behind him.
The dock came into his view, the boat he had used to get to the island was floating away. One of the creature’s knives had cut the rope. He bent down a bit to give himself extra speed and ran towards the dock. His feet hit the edge and he leapt off towards the boat. He swung his body around in midair and let off a volley of shots at any creatures that had followed him. His feet landed on the boat and he spun the guns around on his fingers, putting them back into their homes at his side. He took one last look at the island and turned away.

Back in the castle the sailor ran. He saw a figure run down the path in front of him, but rocks came down blocking it off. He ran out and looked at them, that was the only way he could think of escaping. He turned his backs to the rocks and let some tears roll down his dirty cheek. He slid down the rocks and looked up at the creatures that had surrounded him, beyond them was the torture chamber, through a hole that he assumed the castles destruction had done. From above fell a sword. He picked it up, it’s hilt was the brightest gold, but the blade was the darkest black. As he looked into the blade the darkness in it shot into his body. He screamed in pain, as it overwhelmed him. His eyes closed and when they opened again they were the same black colour as the blade had been.
“At last I have a new body” he said, then he laughed.
The creatures looked at him and fled at the look of their new master. Mors now had a human body…

Dante walked down the alleyway towards the Devil Never Cry agency. In the doorway was someone he recognised. Her leather outfit shone slightly in the moonlight. She smiled at him and gave a slight wave. Dante looked at her and smiled back. It was good to be home.
