Men behind the Curtain

Year 2044. The world has changed a lot since 2008. For one there is no such thing as a country anymore, not since the New World Order was formed. The world and what used to be its countries are now called Pangaea. The world is then divided into regions, which are numbered 1-7, and then each region is divided into 50 areas, which are subsequently divided depending on size of each area, altogether a place would be labelled like 2-48-206. The highest level of Government is called �The Board of Directors� which consists of seven �Convenor� and is lead by �The Chairman of The Board�. They rule Pangaea with an iron fist to eliminate the ongoing threat of terrorism and resistance. Scientific believes have been banned and very few people are allowed to work in a scientific profession (mainly doctors) because of this there are only 10 certified scientists and two of which are Convenors. The only allowed religion is Christianity; anybody who is found not to follow it disappears.

The people moved down the streets following the sidewalk, they all dressed in similar clothing, long-sleeve plain shirts with only two colours (often mainly white and some other colour) and loose fit pants or knee length skirts. Altogether they looked like sheep being herded by sheppards and protected by the wolves. But who was the sheppard, and who were the wolves. This was something Jacen had thought about, sometimes wondering if the goal of The Board was not to lead the people, but to control and rule them. These are thoughts he would not dare think out loud in-case a shepard over heard these thoughts, he would be immediately imprisoned. Jacen walked down the subway station watching the picture of Christ the Savior and heard the preachings �Thou art a subject of the divine, created in the image of man, by the masses, for the masses. Let us be thankful we have commerce. Buy more. Buy more now. Buy more and be happy.� was what the preacher was preaching to the sheep. Jacen noticed men in suits he had never seen before. The suits looked like they were taken pictures of �Earth that was� his father had shown him. The suits were, to his understanding, were something people used to wear to look professional and usually worked in somesort of office. He watched the men leave his view and before he could refocuss on his current direction he bumped into the man infront of him, they both fell down. Theman seemed to barely noticed and just picked himself up. Jacen assumed he drank a lot of water and barely felt anything. He had just gottten back up when he heard a very loud explosion that hurt his ears and temporarily made him deaf. He watched people scream, and panick, running arround like confused, scared sheep in pen. He barely made it to the stairs when another explosion went off. It disenigrated anyone close to it and it was followed by a chain of explosions which Jacen barely evoided by getting out of the station quickly.

He stood on the side of the street, panting, coughing and brushing dust off of himself. He looked up at the streets to notice many emergency vehicles. The firefighters rushed into the subway to help any survivors, while the police blocked the area off from concerned spectators. The paramedics sat to the side watching the police deal with the frantics. Jacen decided it was far better to leave now and avoid interrogation. He walked away, in the opposite way he was heading, guess he was sick today.

Jacen hurried home once he was out of eyesight from the scene. The way home he wondered if the men he saw had anything to do with it. It couldn�t have been a coincidence that moments after they left the terrorist�s bombs went off, could it? Jacen walked into the residensial district and found his appartment building and hurried inside. He walked to the elavator and pushed the �up� button and waited. He heard the ting of the elavator and walked closer waited a second for it to open. He got up to his floor and walked to his appartment. He swiped his finger on the scanner and the door clicked open. He got inside and immediately grabbed a glass and poured water into from the tap. He drank it unsparingly enjoying the cool liquid flowing down his throat. It was the perfect was to cool off and calm down. He wondered if it was the drugs The Board puts in it to boost the immune system against bio-chemical terrorism like the Red Horse virus that restarted the Iraq War to a higher point than it had ever been. It eventually got to a point where nukes were used against the far less advanced and mostly innocent Iraqi people. It got to a point where desert patrols were renamed glass patrols. Ofcourse Jacen had heard that the drugs also dumbed the population down and made them less aggressive, but they were widely discreditted claims.
