The Stand

The Stand is one of my favorite horror books, and I thought maybe we could discuss the movie. Do you like it? If not, why? I thought they did a good job considering it was made for TV. It's one I wouldn't mind seeing remade sometime, although I'm not sure if they could do a theater release with it being so long. I am just a fan of anything that involves the end of the world type of storyline...

What's your opinion of it?

The movie was ok, but like most Stephen King movies the book was way better. Not saying they didn't do a good job its just hard to capture his detail on film.

The mini-series was great............I own it on dvd. The only bad thing is that it is 7 hrs long which means I almost never watch it.

Best part, Matt Frewer as the Trash Can Man........I love me some Matt Frewer.

7 hours is long and like you said thats why I dont watch it as much as i want. I have it on VHS. I taped it off television and took out all the commercials. Maybe I should blow the dust off it one weekend and sit down and watch the whole thing, but 7 hours is a long time to get some peace and quiet and watch it.

I don't watch it much either. Now that I've posted this I might just have to watch it again soon.

Evil Dead-- A friend of mine hates the actor that played Trashcan Man. Personally I found that character to be VERY disturbing, especially in the book, and the actor that payed him did a good job with the role.

Matt Frewer is a great actor all around...............look for some of his work (except Honey I Shrunk the Kids)............

Max Headroom was one of the most inventive series ever........Matt Frewer made the Max Headroom character what he became, a pop culture icon.

It's one of my favorite King books, it got me hooked all the way. Been a while since I saw the TV series but I recall liking it, was a good adaptation of such a long and complex story.

Great Book reasonable adaptations - both of them - I liked the Rob Lowe mini series better though.

I met King 20 years ago!

Strange really he did a book signing in London which I went to.

I stared, said "hi" and he said "h" signed and off I went, that was it really - He is my fave writer except for maybe Barker, have you read "Weaveworld"?

King though has written so many different types of story - in the future he will be seen as the greatest popularist writer of the latter half of the twentieth century.

Thats what I believe anyway.

All things serve the beam.

"Lost" kind of reminds me of "The Stand". Anybody else notice the similarities?
