It's a cool throw back film, and it entertained me. It's also refreshing ot see a film made with true heart and soul, by someone who loves the horror genre.

The movie wasn't bad, it was entertaining, it kind of reminded me of the old school horror comics, it had humor.

I actually saw it mid-last year and only watched it once, so my memory is a tad blurred, but from what i remember very faintly, it was good.

What do yo8u mean by a tthrow back film, . It would have been better if it had a more cohesive story. It was a bit like a student film. In fact there was a scene when they were walking to the pit in a big line , that was exactly like the excerpt of Horwards Sterns student film, shown in the film Private Parts.

House of 1000 corpses was a brilliant film. I can't wait for the sequel. Rob Zombie already said that it was going to be more evil than the first. I think no one liked the first one because it was not a traditional shitty cookie cutter horror movie. He took this movie to the next level. Anyone who doesn't see the brilliance in HO1K should be watching teeniebopper horror movies like Scream.

Are you eight years old? Do you think a bunch of eight year old kids post in this forum? That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. "it was not a traditional shitty cookie cutter horror movie. He took this movie to the next level"..........pure bullshit! This movie did not have an original idea from title sequence to ending credits. This was a piss poor job at ripping off The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was made in 1974.......but it wasn't a traditional horror movie eh? What the fuck? It was almost a direct copy of one of the most famous and loved horror movies EVER. Was House of a Thousand Corpses the first horror movie you saw or what?

Brief plot summary:

The Texas Chaisaw Massacre 1974:

- a group of teenagers are on a road trip
- the teenagers stop at a gas station where they are given directions
- the teenagers run into an insane family
- an insane family procedes to kill teenagers
- one girl escapes and meets up with the guy at the gas station who gave them the directions
- the guy at the gas station then proceeds to take the girl right back to the crazy family, revealing he is with them.

House of 1000 Corpses :

- a group of teenagers are on a road trip
- the teenagers stop at a gas station where they are given directions
- the teenagers run into an insane family
- an insane family procedes to kill teenagers
- one girl escapes and meets up with the guy at the gas station who gave them the directions
- the guy at the gas station then proceeds to take the girl right back to the crazy family, revealing he is with them.

See the huge difference in plot there? Yeah....me neither. The only difference is that in TCM, the girl escapes at the end. That's it.

My advice.......watch a few more horror films before you start going on and on about how original and different this movie is, because it isn't in the least. It is every horror movie cliche squeezed together into one script.

Rob Zombie is an excellent musician and artist......he should stick to those fields because the only thing worse than making a bad horror movie is copying a great horror movie and it still turning out bad.

Oh and for the record.....Scream was a hundred times more intelligent than House of 1000 Corpses. It was actually original. Some thought actually had to be put into the script. They didn't just put in a video of a 30 year old movie and say "hey.....let's copy that"...........

Now I liked House of a Thousand corpses it is a better horror flim that has come out recently. Now scream was excellent if u said I know what u do last summer or something like that i would have agreeded with u that it was shitty but scream was one of those movies that u can put into best within the last ten years.
House of a Thousand corpses was a rip off but was just entertaining in its own way because it was just as creepy as TCM and TCM part II. Just because it made you think to yourself wow if there was really people like this in the world that is scary. I couldnt imagine a family ne were that can do stuff like that.

OK, Well I would like to say that I agree with you on some things "Evil Dead." It is true that the plots are very near each other maybe, even near identical. TCM was and always will be a classic movie. HO1K was based in the 70's and from my perspective was clearly a tribute not only to TCM, but to that entire era of horror movies. The brilliance of house of 1000 corpses in my eyes was not that he came up with this amazing plot but rather, how he incorporated himself and his demented, if you will, outlook into a classic storyline (i.e. the way he brought the cut scenes into the movie with those psychedelic colors and dream sequence feel, etc...). I have read countless reviews about this movie saying that it was terrible and disturbing, exactly what you would expect out of any critic. I think the thing that these critics overlooked in this movie was the artistic touch that was added.

Then I came across a review from a guy who watched the movie in the theater with his wife and wrote a review of his own and it was posted on a website. Here is an excerpt of what he said:

"Mainstream audiences want to feel comfortable with a horror film. They want a few good scares (where somebody jumps out from behind a door or pops out of the shadows). They want sexy girls wearing little or no clothes. They want some blood. They want CGI in place of latex. They want happy endings that let them go home and safely fall asleep. This is why "Scream" did so well. They don't want House of 1000 Corpses because it's messy and it doesn't exactly let you rest easy at the end. Director David Fincher had similar problems with "Se7en.

When Fincher did screenings for "Se7en" with its various endings, people left the theaters expressing the belief that whoever was responsible for the film be shot. They didn't like the grim conclusion (and the original climax Fincher wanted was even darker than what we got), and it didn't fit in with what audiences have come to expect in a film. Zombie's film doesn't fit what horror audiences expect in their genre of choice, either, and that can only be a good thing.

If horror fans want movies as predictable as "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," then they should stick with the Jason and Freddy franchises. You know what you're getting going in, and there isn't a lot of thinking involved. If they want something more, however, they need to start judging films on their own merits. There are valid criticisms of Zombie's first feature, but it didn't deserve the rough treatment it got in the hands of many critics (most of whom didn't even understand what he was doing). If Zombie takes the bad reviews to heart, we can be assured his sequel will be a financial success and a colossal failure. Whose fault will that be? If you answered "Zombie's," you still don't get it. ""

Now, the first time I watched this movie to be honest with you I thought it sucked. Then, the next day I started thinking about the movie and the messed up insane things that had happened and ever since that day I have been hooked on it. For the longest time I could not figure out what it was that set this movie apart in my mind from all of the other horror movies I had seen, that was until I read this review.

Now, on to the topic of scream since I have offended some people about my comments. I think that scream was a very well written movie. I think that a big part of its success was because of the fact that it was accepted by just about everyone. When I made my comment about scream I did not mean that it was a "shitty cookie cutter movie," it just seemed as though that movie was filmed in a way that would be accepted by everyone. One of the main things I loved about HO1K is that it was filmed holding nothing back. He took things that you see in normal life and then twisted them to make them insanely freaky and scary. Rob Zombie filmed this movie the way he wanted not the way Ebert and Roper wanted. Things like clowns, and pretty young blondes who get off on dead rotting corpses, those were the things that made that movie, you know? Those were the things that you stepped back and said "Damn, thats sick!"

So, I hope that you see what I was getting at by my post. I meant no disrespect to any one or to the movie "Scream."

If there is anyone who is interested in the sequel to this movie here is the latest news about the new House of 1000 corpses movie.

The final title for the movie is "The Devil's Rejects." Here is the story line:

"The title refers to the nickname that the media has bestowed upon our favorite band of murderers.

The story concerns the revenge driven brother of slain Sheriff Wydell hunting down the family with a band of bounty hunters.

All original cast members are on board. (except for Grampa, because he has passed away)

Hey man......I have nothing personal against the movie. I just didn't dig it that much. It was okay for me to watch once but I have no desire to watch it again. People like different movies.....you love it, I don't. Nothing wrong with that. Hell, Backfire liked it also and I respect his opinions more than anybody else's in this forum.

What urked me is when you wrote "I think no one liked the first one because it was not a traditional shitty cookie cutter horror movie. He took this movie to the next level."........which is complete bullshit. Just face it .......some people just don't like the movie. Not because it's groundbreaking or different (because it isn't...it's copied from a 30 year old movie).......they simply don't dig it.

I love Return of the Living Dead.........I can say that the people who don't like the movie just simply don't dig it......I don't have to say "they don't like it because it's too innovative" or anything....because it isn't.

darn skippy! I agree with BF about it being a throwback movie, but I can't disagree with Evil Dead about it being a ripoff of the original TCM, I liked it, but it isn't one of those movies I would pay for...again.
