it is really hard. but i like stay together for the kids cause it tries to make the parents realize that divorce isnt only about them. the kids are hurt twice as much.

My sophmore year in high school, I had a huge crush on this girl a year younger than me. She was dating one of my good friends at the time, so I really couldn't move in on her (out of respect for my friend, of course). But I called her anyway, and we became REALLY good friends.
And, of course, we crossed the lines of friendship where we couldn't really become boyfriend/girlfriend. At least in her mind, anyway.
But I persuded her, and she turned me down repeatedly. This went on for three years until I graduated. This girl broke my heart, friends. And once I went off to college, she wanted to start dating. And as much as it hurt me to do so, I turned her down.
Was it a matter of principals? I don't know. She was the queen of my high school the year after I was king, and everyone said we should get together, but I refused. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't take the heartbreak again.
Anyway, we still remain good friends. Will something happen further down the line? Who knows. But when I herd this song, it was eerie how close it was in relation to this part of my life. It remains one of my favorite songs.
