Greatest Bassists.
Who, in your opinion are the greatest bassists of all time?
Bassists are so important in many cases as they add the boom of alot of the songs in any band. Especially when only 3 members play instruments in some cases.
Discuss.
Gonna kick it off and suggest Dirk Lance formerly of Incubus. Don't grill me for it. He is such an underrated bassist, very very good. Excellent infact. Not saying he's the best, just naming the best of bassists.
Cliff Burton was extremly good, to keep to the metallica dudes I also would put down Robert Trujillo. Of course Maiden basist Harris. Glen Hughes was a great basist for Trapeze before joining Purple.
The "OX" John Entwistle( The Who for those with limited musical knowledge). And yeah Dirk Lance is a very good basist indeed.
Hard to make a fav one though since I can think of so many great ones

I didn't think you'd put Ben Kenneh in there. Cool.
Some of the stuff Flea does is just insane, just to watch. That's what annoyed me about Jason Newsted, he always played with a guitar pick.
Jeordie White has become amazing since joining APC.
I'm gonna put Chris Wolstenholme of Muse in my list also. Considering there's only 3 members and the bass still remains such a pivotal role, I think he's great. Not to mention the bass intro to Hysteria is astonishing.

Ah, my mistake. For some reason I thought they'd gone through three. Yeah, they've had two DJ's... Kid Lyfe and DJ Kilmore.
Anyways, about bassists... I can't say I know a whole lot of them. Dirk Lance is great. I'll be cliched for a moment and say that I also like Krist Novoselic a lot.
we're gonna hear Flea and Les Claypoole a million times, i'msure.
Flea played on The Mars Volta's album, and I think that Flea only toured with Jane's Addiction for one summer, I'm not sure if he recorded anything with them or not.
