Top 10's of 2005 and upcoming releases.

List your top 10 best and worst albums of 2005.

Strictly music. Don't vote an album as horrid just because you don't like how the band look. Only vote if you've actually listened to the whole album and like/dislike the music.

Also, list the top 10 albums (if you can) of artists you are awaiting releases from in 2006. 1 being most anticipated, 10 (or lowest number) being not much.

Peeping Tom (another new Patton project) assuming he puts it out, plus whatever else he might do.

Mine:

1) Hypnotize by System of a Down.
2) Ghost Reveries by Opeth.
3) Suspended Animation by Fantômas.
4) Make Believe by Weezer.
5) Deadwing by Porcupine Tree.
6) You'll Rebel to Anything by Mindless Self Indulgence.
7) Mezmerize by System of a Down.
8) Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes.
9) Catch Without Arms by Dredg.
10) Lullabies to Paralyze by Queens of the Stone Age.

Worst is also With Teeth.

Looking forward to: Tool mostly, Radiohead and Grandaddy JUST behind that. Other Patton stuff. New Cave In and also The Cure. All those are my top most anticipated.

Honourable mention to: New Deftones...I'm quite interested to hear what they do. Red Hot Chili Peppers and POSSIBLY The Smashing Pumpkins (if they DO reform). Metallica might drop something by the end of the year also.

Hmmmm....top 10 faves of this year:

1. Audioslave - Out of Exile
2. SOAD - Mesmerize
3. QOTSA - Lullabies to Paralyze
4. Opeth - Ghost Reveries
5. MSI - You'll Rebel to Anything
6. SOAD - Hypnotize
7. Gorillaz - Demon Days
8. Dredg - Catch Without Arms
9. Weezer - Make Believe
10. Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

The precise order of that list of course shifts on a daily basis, but I do believe that of the CDs that I got that came out this year, those are my favorites.

Only thing I regret getting, really, was With Teeth.

What I'm looking forward too....well, pretty much the same as everyone else, it seems -- Tool and Radiohead topping the list.

Adding another catagory for those who wish to partake:

Biggest surprise album? Eg: For me it was Say Hello to Sunshine by Finch. Didn't expect to like it one bit, at all. Bought it off the back of reviews (not just because they were good, but because they said some things that caught my eye) and the fact that I had heard a single from it which I liked. Thought the album would be a let down, but I really liked it.

So basically, one you bought on a whim or by recommendation without a clue about and ended up liking.

Plans by Death Cab for Cutie. I'd never listened to them before, heard and liked Soul Meets Body, figured "it's Christmas, I'll be getting a bunch of money" and bought it, not really sure if I'd actually like it or not. I love it.

The Faint are excellent. I do think they get a bit samey, but then so do a lot of bands. As long as they do continue putting out good material, I don't mind.

Lana, get Transatlanticism. It's much better.

Don't pay attention to all these haterz, they just jealous a my homeboy T-Rez.

In all seriousness though, With Teeth isn't that bad. It was definitely a disappointment after The Fragile, but I would still buy it again. It has some decent tracks, a couple great tracks, and at least one really annoying song. I would say it's at least the second worst album I bought this year, maybe the first, but not because it was particularly awful—just because I didn't buy any albums that I didn't like.

My worst is either With Teeth or The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place by Explosions in the Sky (damn that's a mouthful). TEINACDP (damn that's an acronym) is fine if you listen to one song off it, in fact it's quite good, but listening to the whole thing is sooooo repetitive. It's like running around in circles. I swear that they have the same song on there at least twice. I know it wasn't released in '05, but it was a big disappointment for me after hearing everybody tell me how great it was and how it would change my life.

As for my top ten... I'm too damn lazy...

With Teeth is actually shit.

Stay away from it and buy something worth while. Seriously. It's a horrifically shit album, all things considered.

I think First Impressions of Earth by The Strokes is officially an '06 release jaden but i'm guessing you have the leaked version.
